The answer to that is you might not understand, that she is just a friend. Then she may be and old fling; that if you found out about their past you would have an issue with it not thinking it could only be a friend now. So rather than go through the hassle, he said it was a guy. Then if you got advise from one of your girls if what he was doing was okay, they might blow it out the water and make your man seem like a dog just trying to get a bone.

I guess my main concern is why weren't you invited also? If you two are a couple, then the invitation should at least be extended out of respect and courtesy of your feelings.
I think you handled it just fine, not being too possesive, etc.....
If he's volunteering all this info without you asking - he might just be looking for more attention from you - checking it out to see if you would be jealous.
Men who cheat sneak....point blank - if your worried make a few phone calls or place a few well directed questions to some of the other guests.
It sounds like your just upset about him not providing all the details from the get go - I would let him know that it hurt your feelings, and why it did.
I wouldn't worry about it otherwise.

If he had said it was a females friends birthday, and she was just a friend, he wopuld have invited you along.
The fact he lied means there is something to hide, whether he did anything or just wanted to.
If nothing happened, get him to introduce you to her.....
Good luck.

Most men think that that our wifes, GF's and significant others will not "allow" us to have friends of the opposite sex. So we have to hide it.
I wasnt allowed to have female friends for the longest time because my ex fiance was a control freak.

Maybe he was just scared of your reaction if he told you it was for a female. You showed trust, good for you.
You can, however, tell him you didnt appreciate the lie.

People don't usually lie for no reason...not saying he's done anything.... but he must have something going on in his mind to cause him to lie.
