Great question, and I wish I had the answer for you. For me I just hit me one day, but sometimes I wonder if I really know who I am.

That depends.
If you are an adult, and you are working, you can take a vacation. Take some time off work, go on a vacation - somewhere nice and quiet where you can think and do soul-searching.
It may also help to move away from those who are bringing negative energy to your life.
If you are not an adult, you have to find the strength within yourself to stop listening to what other people have to say and have confidence in yourself. Let people who are giving unsolicited advice know that their comments are not wanted nor appreciated.
Then, if you can, find a way to try to get away from these negative influences so you can concentrate. This may mean ending friendships that are not positive, or not spending a lot of time around certain people.

By leaving for a while. I never even knew that I needed to find myself until I went backpacking to Europe by myself. For two months I had only myself to rely upon and it was the most fantastic two months of my life.
When you are always around ppl you know, it is hard to hear yourself. By going to another place by yourself, you remove all the stereotypes and expectations attached to you. You can try different styles, almost different personalities that have been forming inside of you. It is the most freeing and amazing thing you can do for yourself. I came back like a new person, happier, more confident, full of energy, even my friends and family notice the changes. I was more 'me'. Give that a shot. It doesn't even have to be very far, just far enough away that no one knows you! Good luck!

No easy answer, you just have to tune out the noise and focus on yourself, find someplace quiet and spend some time alone without being terrified.
The alternative, visit an analyst twice a week, an expensive anonymous friend that you can spill your guts to without any fear of repercussions.

For many of us, we find out who we really are as we begin to get 'long in the tooth.' I wouil listen to the advice of an elder that you trust as being of sound mind and experience. Otherwise, the rest haven't found themselves either.
Assess what your interests are and in what direction you are headed then see if that makes you happy. If not then go after what does make you happy.

I think a change of surroundings helps. I came from a small town, so I chose a large university in a different part of the country, where no one knew me. Then I could try out different aspects of "me", to see how I felt with different paths. That worked well for me.
For you, if might be a different change that would work best.

May be you are so talented that getting so many answer. Me myself no one is saying who I am may be, I am a big looser on earth so no one bother to tell me. Only one way to stop the noise is to ignore what you don't want to listen.

Go outside where it's quiet and do some soul searching. Don't listen to other people. You are who you are and you need to find out for yourself.

Spend more time by yourself. Do things by yourself. Take yourself out to the movies, for drinks, to get your hair done, shopping...etc. You will start to be more independent and hear your voice and not the voice of others.
