I'm visiting my daughter and grand kids with B-2 Visa. I want to have more time with them and have sightseeings to other parts of the US. My current D/S will expire in December. I want to request an extenstion for another 6 months. What will be acceptable reason to request this extension?

If the reason you gave here is the truth, then that is the reason you should use. Any lie might come back to bite you. I have seen many happy grandparents like you granted extensions of stay just because they asked for them.

Probably, but it may be easier to just go back to your home country and get a new B visa. I had a friend who came, and then went back to the UK, and got a new visa within 2 weeks. It may be faster processing the visa in your home country rather than trying to get it done in the U.S.
