I just got a new job 3 weeks ago and last week I found out I was pregnant. My job is in management at a refinery and distribution facility. Will this affect the health of my baby? How can I minimize the risks? Thanks.

Surely you would not be the first pregnant woman to work at the facility? If there is a risk, the company would have to have a policy that disallowed pregnant employees.

I and many other women worked at the world's largest lead and zinc smelter (which also contains refineries) while pregnant. To the best of my knowledge, our babies were not adversely affected by this.

The only way to absolutely minimize any risk would be to take a leave of absence while pregnant.

You should ask your Ob/Gyn. But listen to your instincts, are there fumes? Are you exposed to anything hazardous? Always trust your gut, or it will kick back,,lol Congrats
