there should be a code stamped on the block that you can give ot dealer or repair shop that will tell you the year

Look on the engine, just in front of the right cylinder head, on the block towards the front of the motor. There is a small row of stamped-in numbers. Clean the area if you can't see it. The second digit refers to the year. Hers an article on reading Chevy engine numbers...

The vin on the engine will tell you where it was manufactured, what year, and what it came in, You can go to the library and get a vin decoding book or look it up on the web.

on the block there should be a tag rivitted to it . it will have a series of numbers and or letters. copy those and take them to a chevy dealer

If you had insurance on it it should be listed on your old bill,or it would be on your old registration.
