Fog lights are low and close to the road in order to shine on the road under the fog and not at it.If you use your high beams in the fog you'll see nothing but fog.

Genuine "fog-lights" -usually yellow, penetrate the "haze" further than regular "clear colored lights". When used close to the ground, they shine a little further because they reflect less light back in your eyes!

Regular lights reflect back so much light that they make fog look more like a wall than a haze!

Amber "driving glasses" will help in fog too!
