Does anyone know whether the hymen can be broken medically? I am a virgin that just got married. We've tried to have to intercourse, but it's been too painful for me. I was wondering if there is a way that a doctor can break the hymen with no pain? Please help if you know...it's very important to me...THANKS! :-)

yes, a doctor can help you. go see your gynocologist and tell her (or him) the problem. and while you are there, it would be a good idea to check on birth control, unless you want to start a family immediately.

I heard that a woman can try and do it herself or at least stretch it out with her finger. This site has a great info and help for a virgin. Maybe this will help you out.
Look for this title and you will see some good info

Your Body -

"There is usually some trepidation about the possibility of pain at first intercourse. This is normal, but try to put it in perspective. The hymen is a small shelf-like membrane that partly covers the vagina opening. When your husband's penis enters your vagina it stretches, sometimes tears, the hymen. That's why there is sometimes blood. The absence of blood does not mean that you are not a virgin. It just means that there was not significant tearing."

Sometime they can get broken during a pelvic exam but it will still be painful. You will just have to push through the pain. Once you do it will be lots better. You will be a little sore but just go for it. Do it quick and hard and it will be over quick.

Actually your hymen can get broken doing strenuous exercise or playing sports and you can never know. My advice would be to keep trying--it does get better. If you still can't I would see a doctor.

Yes a doctor can do this. My girlfriend's doctor offered to do this for her because he said her hymn was very thick and it would be difficult to break. I don't know if it is painless though, maybe they could use something that numbs the surface a little. If you are afraid of a little pain what are you going to do when you give birth?

As others said: Lubrication! Lubrication! Lubrication!

If you are using a condom, do NOT use a petroleum based lubricant, such as Vaseline. It will destroy the latex condom. Use Astroglide (best) or K-Y jelly.

Also the person suggesting that you see a gynecologist was spot on. Good advice.

You didn't specify whether he penetrated you without lubrication.

I think you and your husband did not use any lubrication when you have sexual intercourse.

Please try using lubrication (petroleum jelly or baby oil) before he enters you. If your religious beliefs allow you, please use a lubricated condom.

Most importantly, please relax and don't tense up because it will really hurt.

If it still hurts, its time to go to the doctor.

Hope this helps.

Peace.

Actually if it is painful enough to stop you from enjoying that intimate contact with your husband, it might be something else and you should go to a gynecologist anyway to have it checked out!
