Do some homework to derive an accurate assessment. Call a taxi company and see what their rates are. Make sure you are lower than them or they might as well hire them instead of you! Check out other forms of public transportation too and see if you can come up with a sensible rate. Bear in mind your time and your mileage... Be reasonable to yourself... you would be surprised at what they might be willing to pay for the security of knowing their driver and enjoying their ride. I would opt for a weekly rate if you are doing a lot of driving.

My company pays $0.35 a mile when I am on the road on company business... I would add that to 10% above minimum wage... unless you are driving a limo with an open bar!

Good luck!

I am a taxi cab driver and our rates are $25 an hour to rent us. $2 drop, $2 a mile, 15% gas sure charge and 25 cents a person for lisencing fees. We also have flat rates to places. $7.25 anywhere in town (7-10 miles any direction)$3.25 for each additional person. Kids under 12 ride free with a paying adult. It's NOT a great living because of gas, insurance, and maintenance fees, but you are doing a kind thing.

Please, do not charge an elderly couple. There is an old man who I always drive him to the Texaco gas station ( he works there and he reminds me of my gramps, who died 18 years ago ). If you need money so hard, you may charge them at least $5 bucks for the ride (once a week). Do not forget you'll be old as well and you want youngsters to be nice with you in the future.

Well there elderly, fair price is definently best. I would say charge them for your gas and mininum wage is all you could really ask, old people are fun to work with and the memories/storys you have will be unforgotten and priceless.

Most old people are poor. Don't charge them at all. Only a jerk would charge elders. They paved the way for you. Show them some gratitude.

I think you should charge about $3 to $5 a week. Well really you shouldn't charge them any...unless you want to.

If you need to charge them, I'd say only charge for what you use in gas.
