Really? I see it all the time. Today even I saw one with a white bag out the drivers window???

Honestly I don't know the technical reasons but it is a universal sign for cops and wreckers to know that you are coming back to it, that your car is not junk!

To indicate the vehicle has broken down, and the owner has gone for help. This is to differentiate it from an abandonded vehicle. When people abandon a vehicle, or dump a vehicle they have been "joy-riding", they typically do the same thing with a completely invisible flag. LOL

So you will take notice and hopefully will not run into that piece of junk car that ran out of gas because the owner was in a hurry to walk lol good day

to let them know its broken down the police will contack you to find out what you want to do with it and to let you know if your going to have towed or if your going to have it towed by them to there holding yard.
