Does anyone else believe that 9/11 was the direct result of ultra Political Correctness, open borders, and basicly America getting soft and folding like a house of card for every Abdul, Paco, and every other foreigner who cry's.
Where are all the balls in America. If this stuff happened 40 years ago, what would people do back then. I'll tell ya one thing we wouldnt be sitting on our laurels trying to open a dialogue. We would go out and whoop that ***

Let's phrase this in a more palatable way, so that we incorporate everyone into a solution and not immediately isolate those who disagree with the first word uttered and therefore disengage completely.

America has lost its cultural compass. It has assimilated all cultures in the past but is now content to accommodate all cultures, which is an entirely different thing. So perhaps being overly PC, undermanning border control and getting 'soft' as you say, has proved to be detrimental to maintaining a strong cultural identity that people appreciate and don't undermine or exploit.

In 1941 our nation was attacked. We responded to that attack for three and a half years, non-stop. In 2001 our nation was attacked. By Christmas we were crying about Enron pensions going poof! Obviously, there are some priorities that have been severely mangled in the last seventy years. America is no longer important to most Americans. Americans are now the most important things to Americans. While technological, economic and medical advances have added to the convenience of life, there is a social and military price that is NOT being paid by society as a whole (see Charles Wheelan's recent article on Yahoo! Finance, The Naked Economist).

I think the U.S. government and military are showing the 'huevos' you refer to, by not heeding international calls for restraint when faced with butchers like the Taliban, Saddam, Hezbollah, Hamas and the like. But the public is so emotionally against any disruption in convenience and comfort that it ATTACKS the very government and military that keeps us safely in lattes and laptops each day. There is no shame in America, no sense of obligation or loyalty, no deferral of the personal for the communal. And that is a dangerous precipice. Just research the last 200 years of the Roman Empire. It is all too familiar.

To keep it short, we need to strive less for the 'fat and happy' and more for the 'fearless and honorable'; this may mean mandatory military service, it may mean an interim closing of our borders to get our collective heads and hearts straight (which is likely coming down the pike), and it's frightening to think about sending our infant sons and daughters to war in a few decades because we couldn't set things right today. I feel for every heart and soul that lost loved ones on 9/11, or in Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, or Spain or the UK or Bali, etc. The human effect is tragic, nauseating and indelible. The response cannot be anything but decisive and course-changing.

I hope this country realizes the policies of appeasement, unconditional globalization and security without sacrifice is going to lead to our demise. I never want America to end, but it's going to live forever only if every American chips in. And right now the contributors are a mere fraction of our population, with the rest firmly glued on their collective a ss es in front of the latest diversion from reality that provides false solace to an increasingly ignorant nation.

how right you are however all we really need to do is build parallel Walls between Mexico and u.s. and parallel walls between Canada and U.S and then we can become safe from invasion from North and south after walls are complete focus 45 %of naval force on eastern seaboard and then 45% on western seaboard and then push all central army base outward towards the coastal state 75 % leaving 25% in reserve in the Central parts of U.s air force distributed evenly across entire country double size of national land coastal guards and then close all boarders to new immigrants and focus on building our country to be the greatest country in the world see there would be an easy way to go about his and we could become selfsuficant if we could just get around the constitution imagine that come on give me a break if they want to all they have to do is try the trick is to get a long so they don't have to think of trying
