I believe that the number one goal of the 9/11 terrorists was for America to consider the attack an attack on our entire Nation. Rather than simply consider the attack the mass murder of 3000 innocent people, our entire Nation devotes most of its attention today to this terrible tragedy. Perhaps this is what these terrorists wanted.

Now our rulers have an enormous Red Herring that they use to justify aggression against other nations. Recently, children were mercilessly bombed in their own homes and cars, and I scarcely heard a peep from Americans. The Red Herring, "We must combat terrorism," has been used effectively to justify this violence. Perhaps violence against everyone--including Muslims--is exactly what these terrorists wanted.

I was in my apartment one mile south of the Pentagon when the plane struck. As smoke filled Crystal City, everyone asked, "Is our Government doing enough to protect us?" But few people asked, "Are we doing enough to protect ourselves?"

What can we do as individuals?

The terrorists succeeded with 9/11, but not the way you were describing. They succeeded in that they were able to put a fear in the American People and Government. They caused mass disruption of business and countless millions of dollars of changes to the way we do business.

What they did not count on was George W. Bush's resolve. Generally, when the terrorists have hit the United States there was no retaliation or nobody held accountable for it. This precedes 9/11 by decades. We can go back as early as the 243 Marines killed in Beruit...nothing was done about it.

Up until 9/11 they have walked all over the United States...even the 1993 attacks on the Trade Center weren't dealt with appropriately enough. George Bush made a speach to the nation after 9/11 that these terrorist would be hunted down and dealt with (which he is doing). In that same speach he made mention of "nations" that harbor terrorists or "support" terrorist will also be dealt with. He is also doing that. I thank God that George W. was in office on 9/11 and not John Kerry.

You can argue all you want about his politics...but one thing is for sure...we haven't been hit SINCE 9/11...and we can thank George W. for that.

Bin Laden said his plan was to attack the United States economically. In this, he has succeeded.

Since Baby Bush became the decider, the United States owes three and a half trillion more dollars than it did before.

At the same time, Arab nations including the Saudis are privately financing the enemies of the United States, further draining our resources. We cannot out spend the oil rich Arab world.

the only person who has the answer to your question is Osama bin laden. now, if he really is brave and strong like al qaeda portrays him, he would come out of hiding and actually do as he preaches by being a martyr for his extreme beliefs and face the music...but then again, he is a coward. again the rulers are only human and therefore , allowed a lapse in judgment. i will go as far as to say that if we had somehow prevented 9/11, it would have still eventually happened one way or another- its NOT a human flaw that you CANNOT EXPECT the billions of people on earth to follow the same RULES and RELIGION. the government is doing and will always do what they consider is the best route to end this era of terrorism. be it the democrats or the republicans, no matter what route they take, the goal is still the same destination. so in answer to your question, I PERSONALLY DON'T CARE IF WE ARE DOING WHAT THE TERRORISTS WANT US TO DO AS LONG AS IT IS PROTECTING THE INTERESTS AND CITIZENS OF AMERICA.

Shortly after September 11, 2001, many people (including some holding political office) commented that if we change America's freedom and attitudes, we will have given in to the terrorists. Supposedly that's what they wanted. Yet we have done just that. Security everywhere, heightened police state, calling those who disagree with current policy traitors, idiots, or hate criminals. Now everyone says "Everything changed on 911". I thought we weren't supposed to change.

The conservatives are doing what the terrorists want.

The Bush adminstration allowed Osama bin Laden's family to be flown safely out of the USA shortly after Sep 11.

George W. Bush attended an Islamic religious service shortly after Sep 11.

Get a clue!

No. But some of us are doing what our government wants to do: Remain stupid and ignorant of the facts, and eat every lie our elected reps spout on a daily basis.

Or they could just be waiting for the US economy to crash once the US has systematically seperated itself from the rest of the world.
