My son dresses kind of like a skater which is fine at least his pants aren't hanging off his butt.. But what do you think about kids dressing habit's and their personality, do you think it's showing who they really are or are they just dressing to fit in with their peers.

I do think that how a person dresses says a lot about their personality and it can change their habits, however let's take into account his age....
Teens do in fact use their clothes to 'express' who they (think they) are. Don't fret, it's a phase. Don't read too much into this. This too will pass. Just be supportive and relax.

In the school years it is usually dressing to fit in with their peers. As long as your kid isn't wearing a short skirt like a figure skater I think his personality will be fine. Fashions for kids will change and you will have a different outfit to worry about - so don't get stressed out over it.

I think the opposite is true - I believe the personality affects the dressing. If they feel the need to be just like their peers, they will emulate them in that and in other ways. I don't know if emphasizing the need to be an individual will help any, because peer pressure and the need to "fit in" seem to be stronger than logic and common sense sometimes.

I'm not looking forward to the day when my daughters becoome teenagers...

At the age of 10 I would have to say that he is just dressing that way to fit in but it could be a little bit of both. I think once a child is a little bit older that their choice of attire says something about their personality at that time.

I think self expression is great. I'm sure I gave my parents a few heart attacks during my school years. However, I turned out just as they had hoped. I look at those times as I was an individual and was happy. My parents put alot of pressure on me about music and friends but not my style. I changed like the seasons.

How old is your son?
I think it has a lot to do with his peers, not much as a pressure thing, but he wants to fit in

Very much so that is one of americas biggest problems no one teaches their kids to have respect and manners for themselfs or others i think that we need to remember that when the day comes and we all have to stand before our heavenly father and we lived as there were no morals or respect in this world all hell is going to come upon us dress like you have morals and respect for yourself that means to dress and if your grandma were to come see you you would not be emmbarassed

I think it's part fitting in and part self expression.
