Yes, I think you should have him sign his rights over if he doesn't want to be a dad and you are with a guy great guy that does.Every child deserves a dad that cares.Unfortunately the problem with different states have different laws and you need to contact a lawyer about the laws in your state.Good Luck!

You can always ask. Biology isnt' the most important factor in raising a child or being a parent. Unfortantley courts are to STUPID to see this, so if he doesn't comply, he will have certain rights, granted him by the courts, weather he is an absentee father or not.

If you for-see your child's father causing problems in the long run i.e. wanting visitation right and things like that that you aren't going to agree with, then absolutely take them away now, but don't instantly give them to some one else. If you don't think he will provide you any hardship then let him have his rights and PUT HIM ON CHILD SUPPORT. It will be the best thing you could ever do for yourself and your child especially in the long run.

Oh, the sad state of American families!
First - you best consult with an attorney.
You want to make sure that whatever you decide to do, it is in the best interest of your child...not you and not the sperm donor.
Secondly, who is the "my guy" you are referring to?
Is this a new boyfriend?
If so, I would caution you to not leave him alone with your child.
It is a well-documented fact that most child abuse cases are caused by the mothers' boyfriend.
Good luck to the child, she's gonna need a boatload of it.

Contact family services in your state. Every state has different laws. In Illinois if he didn't sign the birth certificate and other forms, he has no rights unless he goes to court. Do your research and decide what is best for everyone. Good luck.

Yes. if your new guy is doing all the responsibilities then ask him if he says no just tell him he will have to step up and pay child support and i bet that will change his mind real soon.

Yes. It would be best for the child. She deserves to have a daddy who loves her in her life.

Depending on why you want him to sign over the rights. if it is just because he's not doing anything now. then no once he signs over his rights then he is also no loner responsible for child support. if your new guy wants to adopt and you want to move on then yes.
