You could politely say, "Mom, don't come over when you are sick. I'm the one who has to take care of the baby when it's sick and it isn't fair to either of us."
She might ignore you, but she might listen and remember how she felt about similar situations when you were a baby.

I have a 5 month old and when people come over sick I let them know I dont want them touching the baby because I dont want him sick.
Most people that come over though, are very respectful and do not go around the baby. I had my best friend not come over because she was sick. She came after she was over her cold.
Trust me it wont hurt anyones feelings by telling them you dont want your child to catch their sickness.

Babies are tougher than people give them credit for. A six month old is pretty sturdy and should have a decent immune system at this point. I'm sure she didn't have TB or something like that. Viral illness aren't easily spread, and most all babies will catch a cold bafore their first birthdays. Just wipe his little hands off periodically. I'm sure he will be fine even if she had a cold.

spray a s h i t - ton of Lysol! But, really, just be honest and tell them how you feel.....or, to spare feelings, tell a little white lie like "I'm sorry, but my baby just got over a terrible cold and really doesn't need another sickness of top of that, and I'm sure you don't either!" Or, even better, tell the person that you and your baby has had a stomach virus that causes explosive diarrhea and vomiting! That ought to send 'em packin'! Good Luck!

We always warn people before we go anywhere when we are sick and many times cancel our trips because of it. With that in mind, we have no problem telling others not to come over if they are sick. Just tell her what you think, it is your baby's life you are in charge of...a big responsibility. It is too important to not say something. Just say it nicely and say you are looking out for your child's health.
"We will make it up to you when you are healthy."

Since she's your mother, you should be able to say this a little more easily than if she were a stranger: MOM, DON'T TOUCH MY BABY IF YOU'RE SICK! If she doesn't want to respect your wishes, then don't let her in the door!

Dont let anyone over make a rule If your sick I dont want you here. Your baby's health is important and they dont need to get sick too. Tell everyone you know that You need them to stay away tell they are well. Tell them that you love them but your baby needs his health.

She should have known better then to touch your child when she was sick, tell her she is not welcome if she is ill.
Your child will have to be exposed to some germs for her to develop a healthy immune system but keeping her away from obviously sick people is just common sense, your mother should understand that!

You can't pretect your baby from germs forever...but you can ask your mother not to come by...or just try and stay away from teh baby while she is sick. Kids are going to get colds regardless of who you try and keep away.
