2)A strong belief that the goal is worthy and possible of being reached
3)A strong drive to reach the goal
4)An ability to communicate well so that others are inspired and/or motivated to be a part of the effort to achieve the goal

He has to work on number 4 a little more but he is an intelligent man and has come a long way. Remember people - he had higher grades than John Kerry!

Clarification on the GRADE thing - no one has called John Kerry dumb and he had worse grades than GWB.
It is not grades in college that make or break a President, just wanted to remind people that GWB is smart - just not a great public speaker.

Mr. Mugg - I was talking about LEADERSHIP at this point. You have some points about other leaders. I think Bush is a GOOD MAN too. NOT AT ALL like the bad leaders.
History will show him to be both a great leader and a great man!

Yes, he was a pretty descent leader. Many of you in the States forget the fact the President Bush got you guys out of a recession after the bombing of the world trade buildings by cutting interest rates and reducing taxes. This took leadership to bring the economy back on track and usher in one of the biggest economic booms in recent history.

I think your question depends on whether you're talking about the technical definition of a leader or the moral one.

Technically, yes, I agree with you that Bush is a good leader. Clearly he has been successful as a leader (he was elected President, wasn't he?) if you only consider the four points outlined above. However, there have been a lot of "good" leaders in the past - consider Napolean, Churchill, JFK, and yes, even Hitler and Osama Bin Laden. But does that make them a good leader morally? I think that's a pretty complicated question, and one that has an infinite number of answers.

I'm sure this question will be filled with those kinds of answers shortly. I for one am not sure whether Bush is a good leader or not morally... it's usually a lot easier to answer these kinds of questions in retrospect. Maybe how Hitler is viewed as a leader today would have been a lot different had he won WWII.

No. President Bush is a good puppet. He is living proof of the old saying "It's not what you know but who you know". Through his father he has been able to make the connections to get to where he is today. It is definitely not due to his intellegence or charisma. The rich and powerful like him because he is not intellegent. He does not ask questions. He moves whichever way his strings are pulled and it is usually the rich and powerful pulling these strings.
Grades are not necessarily indicative of intellegence. They merely indicate that you did or didn't do the work necessary to pass/not pass a given course. Some intellegent people do not do well on exams, does this mean they are not bright.
Ivy League schools receive no federal funding and survive on alumni donations and tuition. The Bush family has donated generously to Yale for years. Had they not admitted Dubya or awarded him a degree, they would have lost a lot of donations. Admission to Ivy League schools also requires certain connections.

Should a leader know something about the way in which to reach his goals???
I mean if you decide to fight an abstract idea like terrorism, would you send in your army? That seems quixotic. Although terrorism is even more abstract than windmills.
If you decide to promote democracy in a country, would you send in your army and leave it there once you have ousted the dictator? How many civilians of that fortunate country have died because of your decision?
How does the budget of your country fare under your decisions?

No.

I had better grades than both Dubya and Kerry. Does that constitute a good president? The only reason they were admitted was because of legacy preference. You'd be amazed how many stupid kids matriculate because they're 5th generation Yalies.

Give me a break.

I believe he's a good leader. He's had arguably the most tumultous presidency ever, and I think he's made a few mistakes along the way, but I believe he's handled the adversity much better than many presidents would have.

He's a man of conviction who won't back down. He's very Texas, and that rubs some people wrong. I'd vote for him again, though.

Are you wanting answers to questions that you are asking or are you just using this as a forum to spout off about things you know nothing about? You're that woman that I avoid at cocktail parties. Your dribbling babble is nauseating. Have you ever read a book or even watched the news?
