The first series of Lost was totally addictive and encaptured all of the main characters feelings of being stranded on this island and their personal struggels they have had to go through in the past and present and how they are relating this to their situation. I was hooked.
But the second series which I have seen in full started out with some impressive episodes with the loss of Shannon and the event of the other survivors and how they have survived. But later the story did get very drawn out and far too ambigious. Nothing was really explained and the character developement of each of them not fully concentrated as had been done on the first series. Charlie's struggel with with his heroin addiction and Clare not having anything to do with him. We were left having to fill in the gaps ourselves. The monster also stopped appearing after the confrontation with Eko and it left us with a feeling of disappointment that we found out how or why it was there in the first place. We also did not find out about Walts special powers which was referred to by the others and we saw nothing of the journey he had been through at the hands of the others.
I am being hopeful that the third series will return to form as the first and I am being optimistic. Lets hope we do find out how Lost they are.
If you want to find out any explanation of the background storylines then wikipedia have a good rundown of the events.

While i agree it was too drawn out in the second series I ask you to be patient til you see the third series as I have heard a lot more is detailed about "the others" and we find out more about some of the other lost characters. Maybe we will not be as Lost

I know what you mean, I get impatient too when a storyline just hangs for weeks.
But what has put me off it was the idea of "the others" being scientists dressing up as savages and Lock not learning from the bum decisions he made in his life before the Island

I agree. I think it is a great show, but they don't give us many answers. I understand it is all about the mysteries, but they should throw us a bone every now and then.
I hate that they killed Libby without ever doing a backstory episode on her, expecially since we saw her in the mental institution during Hurley's backstory. I also want to know more about Locke and how he was injured and why he isn't telling anyone.
This season is going to be all about The Others so I doubt they will be wrapping up too many of the old stories.

I loved the first series of this programme but after just a few epidisodes in series 2 I just couldn't watch it anymore. From what I hear by the time you get to the end of the 2nd series you are no wiser. I would have thought it would be better to bring it to a conclusion instead of dragging out like a dying swan.

I love that show! But the "summer" breaks are way too long. What really pi sses me off is that once the new season starts, there are only gonna be 6 new episodes. This means lots of reruns with some new mixed in! Not good planning if they wanna keep people interested!

I vote for impatient. I, on the other hand, have patience and I love it. If you even have to ask the question then the show is not for you. Go watch That's So Raven.

You are just being impatient! Buy or rent the second season on dvd, I am re-watching it now. You will be able to pick up a lot that you missed. It's a great show!

I have been watching it from the beginning and there were times when I was loosing my faith in the programme (lol), but now they are really becoming more interesting. The story line has developed and it is regaining its former glory. Though if you have not been watching it, then getting into it now may just be a bit too late.

I watched the first season and got really excited when the second series got aired, but it jumps around! i get confused easily anyway! but i had to think about 2 different stories at the same time!
Then it skipped weeks then repeated the same stuff!
So nothing ever got sorted out, went on far to long!
I was not impressed!

I watched the first season... then got bored with it... so yeah, it's too drawn out - it made me lose interest and even the gorgeous Charlie couldn't keep me viewing!
