Absolutely. It is disheartening that with the exception of a small handful, they all seem to care more about political rhetoric and getting votes than actually serving the people who elected them. What ever happened to the idea of sincere public service? I think "self-serving" would more adequately describe most of the members of both parties.
I am tired of catch phrases, slogans, promises about the future (when they haven't done much in the past), meaningless jargon, and purposefully inflammatory rhetoric. The majority of them seem to think playing "gottcha" with the other party is more important than actually getting some work done. Their constant game playing is counterproductive.

This country is no longer run by the people, but by special interest groups who sneak their wishes into important legislation. I believe in America, and served proudly during the cold war in the Air Force, and am sad to see the influence of a few dominating the needs of the many. I firmly believe in the line item veto, which will never be instituted so long as special interst groups run congress. All legislation should be reviewed every five years and a vote of confidence given in order that ineffective laws are eliminated. I feel that most candidates only say what voters want to hear, and do as special interest dictates once in office. All persons who hold political office should be made to live at a minimum wage income level for one year as a prerequsite to taking office, then their perspective of life in America would be more realistic. Please do your civic duty and vote in the coming elections, vote for the candidates who are not supported by special interest groups and life will change for the better.

Yes, you are right. If more Americans would start to realize that none of these clowns are working to make any of our lives better, then there might be hope for our country. I always hear that a president who is not one or the other of the two established parties would not know how to get things done through Congress, so I think that is the main reason most people stay in the mainstream. Things need to change about the whole system, but enough of us have to agree about SOMETHING to bring about this kind of change. Are you ready for a revolution? I think we, as a people, have to be united against what threatens to harm us the most, and we have to think for ourselves and not be deluded by the lies of politicians. We cannot afford to relax and be uneducated about what our government is doing.

The two party system does not work. The people need their parties though. If the parties changed their names, half this country wouldn't know who they want to vote for. Ask some college kids some basic questions on current events or politics. Most do not know anything, but they know they should be aligned with one of the parties. Candidates should run on their own platform with their own money, no dems or reps, just people running with the issues they believe in.

YES FINALLY an intelligent question asked by an obviously intelligent and open-minded person.
Lately we can't trust anybody's word on what their views truly are, it's as if they are just actors and playing a part to get the ultimate role as Leader. The ones in charge never seem to fulfill the very promises that got them elected, and in the middle of the whole mixed up mess is the liberal rabid media disguised as "ones who want the truth"... when they're the ones who truly want to be in charge and will twist, spin, and bend the information to suit their own opinions.
So... yes, I'm frustrated too!

Both of the current majority political parties, yes.
But the Democrats and Republicans are not the only games in town.
Time for a change. Think independently. Vote Libertarian.

I agree. I'm waiting for someone who really makes me feel the way I used to feel as an American, reasonably safe and able to express my opinions without comdemnation. It's all become so nasty. I don't like Bushs' actions on almost all decisions he's made but that has nothing to do with his party. If someone comes along and it feels right, that person will get my vote. I vote Independent for that reason. Because of the expense of this war we're in, I don't see how we will get by without raising taxes.

I'm in agreement with you. Why do they (Senators and Representatives) have the best health care? Why do they have great pensions? They work for us, yet the first thing that comes out of their mouths when we want better health care or better social security is "that's socialism" okay I'm good with that because it is. My question is "How come they can reap the rewards of such programs but the citizens can't?" They work for us and they get better benefits then we do. Don' t you wish that your employer you was so generous? So for all those who keep crying "socialism bad, suckers good" keep up the chant you will always be the suckers.

you merely suggested extremists as Conservative or Liberal, yet I wager you will locate tens of millions of folk who vote for a undeniable social gathering in accordance with financial subject concerns in hassle-free terms. I unquestionably have friends from the two ends of the spectrum and maximum (not all) agree on debt and spending. in spite of the undeniable fact that, deliver faith or international warming into it and that they get all emotional to the component to destroying that contract. it is the challenge. I evaluate myself to be an environmentalist and a financial conservative. technological expertise, in spite of the undeniable fact that, has a tendency to alter over the years as discoveries tend to opposite uncomplicated expertise on a reasonably customary foundation. That being reported, i don't think the government will ever provide up international warming by ability of investment particular industries. the deepest sector will hit upon the respond, and don't be stunned if that is a few infant working in his storage. all of us ought to do our section, so that is ridiculous as quickly as I pay attention to my great wealthy liberal friends with all their huge boats, huge homes and Prius' preaching to the rest persons on how we ought to stay.
