Nobody really answered this the last time I asked, so I'll try again.
George Bush's supposedly failed policy surrounding the Gulf War, and Hurricane Katrina have be repeatedly blamed for the cost of gasoline rising.
Now that the price is lower, who gets the credit? If Bush were able to control the market to raise prices for his benefit without any other factor influencing the prices, doesn't it in turn make sense that he is solely responsible for the decline in prices?
What about the fact that the price of gas, even at it's highest over the last twenty four months is still lower than what it should be based on inflation rates? Who gets the credit for that?
Just wondering how this will spin...

So for those claiming that this is an election year "trick". Please remember that George Bush can not be re-elected and therefore has nothing to gain. Also please remember that gas prices had their sharpest, inflation adjusted rise in the eight months prior to November 2004. And Bush was re-elected.

Its all a conspiracy. The ones who will get the credit is the one who found the new oil supply in new Mexico or the gulf..can't remember where it is.
I think they knew it was there all along but they are trying to now set up our supply for our country because the moment we are set with our oil the moment bush can go in and attack Iran as well.
Don't you think it was convenient that the Alaska pipe line broke right before they found the new one? Imagine if they were both up and running at full speed.
Bush just wants an excuse to blow up everything.

The gas you but today was once oil that was bought 6 months ago. Oil companies purchase oil 6 months in advance, so when the price of oil goes up it will not REALLY affect the price of gasoline for 6 months, however oil companies raise the price of gas, so they can make a larger short-term profit and hope that the price of oil goes down before the 6 month time is up. However, it costs only about $1.15 to make a gallon of gasoline and only a penny more for each octane level higher. Also, desiel is the cheapest of them all to make, but is normally one of the most expensive. In short it has nothing to do with Bush, it is corporate greed, the only part Bush plays is that he does not put a freeze on gas prices to give the market some time to cool-down.

i have a better tiwsted for you. last year when oil prices went to their ultimate high, the government and president said it was because of the war, yayayayay. well gee, when the oil companies got together to compare their profit during the year, they were up 25%. now i ask you how can the oil companies have a 25% increase inprofit, when supposebly the reason why the prices are high is becuase of the war and nothing else.
who benefits with the oil prices being higher: everyone except the consumer.
i mean everything has gone up: gas, electricity, airlines, transportation. you made it. but we are still poor because everything goes up and our salaries are still the same and not even slightly better.
the war has been going on for 5 years. and the prices continue to rise instead of coming down.
we only received 20% of all our oil from the middle east. everything else comes from the gulf, alaska, and south america. so what else would be the excuse./

The Liberals I know claim the recent price drop is an 'election year trick'. As far as inflation goes, gas prices aren't supposed to be affected by inflation. Besides, you just made up the entire history of gas prices and inflation to confuse the uninformed. At least that's what the tell me.

I would say that President Bush, indirectly, would be responsible for the lowering gas prices, but, really, the reason for the lower gas prices is lower demand and it's seasonal because less people drive after Labor Day,
because of Schools opening.

that's what Clinton stated in 1998 whilst he does no longer improve regulations on offshore drilling. He stated it could be 7-10 years till now it could make a distinction in gas expenses. consequently we are paying what we are right this moment! we does no longer be so based on foreign places oil right this moment if we have been keen to look forward and start up drilling 10 years in the past. If we don't start up drilling now no volume of progression of alternative power sources is going to unfastened us of our dependence on foreign places oil any time quickly. for sure that may no longer the only answer and anybody is conscious of it. anybody's power plan includes progression of all sources of power which includes wind, image voltaic, organic gas, and with McCain additionally includes nuclear to ultimately get us self reliant and unfastened from foreign places oil. Edit: actual McFlipFlop, Pickens additionally says we ought to continuously drill now besides as improve organic gas as at once as accessible and urges a larger use of nuclear power. notwithstanding, Pickens helps drilling interior the Alaska national organic worldwide shelter, on an identical time as McCain does not.

In answer to your slanted, tongue in cheek question supply and demand naturally is the obvious reason for the drop in the price of crude oil. As a loyal and moderate democrat however I must say that George Bush can assume alot of blame for many things but fuel pricing is not one of them. Lives, safety, economics (somewhat), and world policy are just some of the things hes obviously staying on top of ;) Isnt he doing a splendid job indeed? Kind of makes you proud of how well hes doing protecting our freedoms and those of people around the world, duh.

I don`t look at prices right now I look at the prices since 2000 and I look at our wages. With all the Republican owned corporations outsourcing jobs or setting up shop in places like China which causes China economy to rise so does the demand for gas and our prices go up here for corporate profits.
