QUEBEC (CP) - NDP Leader Jack Layton urged his troops to prepare Sunday for an election campaign he seems determined to fight against U.S. President George W. Bush.

He mentioned the U.S. president at least five times in a closing address to his party's convention and accused the Tory government of being his servant.

On climate change, on the softwood-lumber deal and on the Afghan conflict, Layton accused the Tories of selling out Canadian interests to satisfy Bush and Prime Minister Stephen Harper of being a lackey of the Republican White House.

"He's become a cheerleader for President George Bush and he's leading Canada down the wrong track on every issue that matters to ordinary people," Layton said.

It looks like the Tories are going to be out of a job soon .....

How will no Blair and no Harper be for Bush - who cares really Who else wants Harper out and what do you think the election outcome will be?

You might be right but do you remember hoe Bob Rae got in ? No one expected a win it was a throw away protest vote and then bang?
I do not expect Harper to win again - without Que it will be very tough and I can't see Ontartio going for it either whhich leaves spotty support in the west ......

I want to see Harper suffer the same fate as Mulrooney - maybe he will be our next ambasador to the US like good ole Kim Cambell - He's be good at it

I could have told anyone that Harper was going to be a Bush puppet before the election. I'm sick and disgusted with his mentality and overall decision making abilities. The liberals seem like the better choice but can they be trusted? Layton seems to be the most trust worthy and Canadian, but how would he scar our relationship with the US?

I am behind the NDP all the way. I am so disgusted and embarrassed by the Harpies running our government - getting rid of them just cannot happen fast enough. The NDP is the only viable alternative for us progressive federalist voters in Québec. The liberals are in disarray and they don't stand a chance in Quebec if they elect Ignatieff as their leader. Rae is not much better. Both of those men appear confused and wishy-washy. I would love to see a person of integrity like Ken Dryden or Carolyn Bennett as Liberal leader, but the press seems determined that they are not serious contenders. Too bad for our democracy. They would be good, but I would still vote for the NDP.

Every vote for NDP is one less vote for the Liberals-Layton is Harper's best ally.
