I say to you that is a very sad expression of thought but it can't go with wandering. Bush has showed us that he can deal with many wars. but i fear that may be true. those folk were willing to give there life to save more than just one life. And for that they would get rewarded with the selfishness of our political ind.gov. of being called freeloaders??? I believe that would be a huge mistake of the part of bush. it's a shame. that we think of the possibilities in such a way. I am proud of those folk that did what they could. my eye's water to the thought of actually being there, or worst leaving there damaged on the inside and still would do it all over again. that is how i feel about my home town and on my birthday today. I hope not. they will not be forgotten by me.

not to disrespect all of the workers at the sites, but what is this all about. This wasn't the governments doing. If you want to make a statement, sue Al Qieda and Osama Bin Laden. They are responsable for the damage and dust and everything else that happened that day and in the weeks following.

We are not living in a socialist state where the government pays for everything and everyone. We are a democratic republic, where we have personal responsibility, health insurance, workers compensation, etc.

Great Question. I must admit as a foundry worker, I didn't believe their claims right at first either. I thought, how could those whiney firefighters complain about a bit of smoke. They were only there for a short time. I haven't seen the ceiling where I worked in three years. But then I saw the iron workers and saw how fatigued they were and the 20 pills they were taking. And I knew they were not faking it. And then when I had health problems from the foundry and got denied workers comp. And had to take pills and pills. Then I understood the need for better leglation for workers.

Yes they will, just like they ignore the rest of the United States citizens. The Government is just in place what they can get out of the citizens. Sad but true fact of life.

It was the City of New York, not the US government, who employed many of the workers (firefighters, police, EMTs). And I am sure there were general contractors and others involved as well in the demolition work. Where were their unions? where were their respirators? A lot of questions need to be resolved before we play the blame game. meanwhile...i surely hope the employers are at least paying workers comp claims.

Probably so. I have been try to get Disability Benfits for 6 yrs.
They probably will tell them as they have told me, you might not be able to do your current job , but you can do something else . As long as they are able to walk across the floor, the government will deny them also. They will go from being "hero's to Zero" as far as the government is concerned.
