Let's see, I'll take a Republican I know very well...my MOM:
Doesn't do drugs. Doesn't drink. And she's poor.
How about my sister?
Doesn't do drugs. Doesn't drink. And she's poor.
My younger older brother?
Doesn't do drugs. Doesn't drink. Middle-class.
My eldest brother?
Doesn't do drugs. Doesn't drink. Middle-class (and he has worked his BUTT off to get there!)
My dad (RIP)?
NEVER did drugs, gave up drinking before my sister was born, and worked his butt off to be upper middle-class.

Those are just a few. I'm the black sheep of the family (an Independent, lol).
Republicans are, for the most part, not what you describe. There are some, yes. There are also some Democrats that are the same way. Shall we talk about the Democratic party's problems with drugs, alcohol, and greed?

the past 3 presidents (yea clintons a dem) all enjoyed and were addicted to smoking pot at one point to their lives....the bush family, a big political family, has a family history of alcoholics (examples: both george bushs and the bush twins) JFK's sold alcohol during the probation thats why they are rich now and one of is in rehab for alcohol abuse...Ronald Reagan's family did have a rum running business.... but with the pressure on politicians you cant blame them for their addictions on painkillers and booze yea its not only the republicans...its politicians in general addicted to painkillers and booze...however republicans are more business-oriented than most other political parties so that explains their obseession with money

For the same reason Democrats, Independents, and those who are too lazy to vote at all are addicted to the same things. This is definitely not just a Republican problem!

I am a republican and I am not addicted to anything as you must be dear friend. I think for myself and the people I vote into office address the issues instead of skirting around them like others do.
You must be so grown up to think you can insult people like a hurt 5 year old.

It's not just Republicans- I think a lot of politicians-regardless of affiliation do those things to try and cover up their guilt. It's the only way to cope because they are constantly being less than honest with Americans citizens!

Why are you addicted to asking ridiculous questions on this or any website? I'm sure you don't feel guilty because you're insane.

Same reason anyone is addicted to pain killers, booze, and money.

Because I can afford to be! And I don't feel the least bit guilty!

Because they are unhappy and need to dull the pain. They will be quick to say they are very happy and love their lives, because otherwise they'd have to admit that spending so much time hating others, gays, blacks, the poor, is a result of their unhappiness. The question is, why are they so unhappy? Is it be cause they live in the countryside or suburbs with too much time on their hands? Is it because they worship material items and aren't gaining the fulfilment they thought those goods would offer? Is it deep rooted guilt about supporting senseless wars because it's the mach American thing to do? Or is it some combination?

The same reason that sweeping generalizations are logical fallacies I suppose.
