I am a practicing surgeon in u.k. Now the surgical royal colleges are training non medical people to assist the surgeons and at the same time perform minor surgeries. This is going to affect the future surgeons(surgeons in training due to lack of proper exposure).

This is not about life saving procedures like tracheostomy(when u have severe airway obstruction). It is about proper emergency and elective surgeries which needs high level of expertise.

A properly trained surgeon. I am dealing with PA's now for everyday health care and it is maddening because they are so poor at diagnosing the situation and after months of problems and paying out of pocket to see a doctor I finally get the correct answer.
Give me a properly trained doctor, specialist or surgeon etc anyday.

The only people who are allowed to perform surgery are surgeons (at least in the United States). A surgical physician's assistant may assist, but can't perform surgery without a surgeon. Physician's assistants are medically trained with a bachelor's degree and two years of post bachelor's training, so they are very qualified to help.
I guess I don't get what you are asking? Can you post a website which explains how a nonmedical person can be authorized to perform surgery???

I recently had surgery performed by a highly skilled, well respected orthopedic surgeon...and I do insist on having a fully trained experienced surgeon to operate on me..it's the only body I have. I do not mind having surgical students or practitioners in the OR with me, but the procedure is done by my surgeon (he is a teacher). He could not legally allow the procedure to be done by a practitioner without my consent...which I would never give.

I'm sure most people would prefer to have the properly trained surgeon. Otherwise they could end up like that young girl, who went in for a noes job and then died, because the surgeon, wasn't properly trained.
