Why is that when two hispanic people talk amonst themselves in English and all of a sudden decides to speak spanish when someone enters the room that doesnt speak Spanish? Is it that youre talking about that person and youre too coward to confront them in english? I would love your feedback.

BTW, I really could care less if you were talking about me if I were in that situation. It just means youre a p-u-s-s-y and youre not man or woman enough to confront me in english!

I once got cussed out by someone in spanish and they laughed because I didn't understand her, so then I just decided to talk sh*t back to her in japanese and she looked at me as if I was crazy.

but the result was it pissed her off to be yelled at in a language that she didn't understand and she wound up yelling f-u-c-k you in english at me and stormed off....

pretty funny event!

Your right people that do that are being rude, but you aren't helping by not saying anything.I've also witness American's talking in english to people they thought were hispanic and assumed they didn't understand them.Sometimes looks can be deceiving, next time you feel left out of a conversation instead of being paranoid and playing the "they are mean" card why don't you walk yourself up to those people and let them know that it bugs you.Or are you too scared to do so?Maybe afraid you will get smacked or jumped?I personally have no problem with people coming up to me and wanting to know what i'm talking about when i speak in spanish with others as long as they don't mind hearing what the conversation is about and do it respectfully.

Just because we switch from english to spanish doesn't mean that you're being talked about. It's just that we want to keep a conversation private.Talk about paranoid. There are certain places where I wouldn't switch from english to spanish...like let's say at work, that would be rude of me. But if I'm in a supermarket, park or any other public facility, I can speak what ever I dam*ed want. I had an encounter a few moths ago with someone who found my speaking spanish offensive. I was at the mall with a friend of mine. I was telling her something in spanish, and a young white girl that was near us said to me, "Can you, like, speak english. You're in America". So I told her, "Since you're so interested in what I said. I told my friend here that 'I just got my period today and I need tampons, and to top it all of I have to take a sh*t', now don't you wish you didn't tell me to speak in english?". Once again, we can speak what ever we want.

No, I never have the time to go into deep "reflection" over something so insignificant. Two people talking is "none of my business." No one owes me an explanation. Everyone does it not only Spanish speakers. Apparently, it bothers you greatly to merit a post, so maybe a Spanish class or two would put you in the same class as Made in America, who understands what is being said. I simply know it's none of my business what other people's conversations are. How trite of you!

I am not Hispanic, but I would like to
put my two cents in if it is okay.

It is not just one nationality
that does this.
It is ALL!! I have heard
French, Portuguese, Greek,
Hebrew, and
Iranese-Persian - whatever.

It does make us dummies paranoid!
I can not speak any language but
English, and it makes me feel like
they are rude to be in my country,
and have not enough courtesy to
use my language.

They are very "law sue" happy people. Puertoricans particularly. In my area - they wont go to school, all they are doing - having babies, using our welfare system in its fullest extent and suing around every body to make money.

I am a business man for last 16 years... and only hard time they give our business in last 16 years are Puertoricans.....

Again, I am naive also - dont know the difference between hispanic and latinos. I only have problem with Puertoricans.

Mexican are good people, hard worker - they come for better future - not to exploit our social system, in my opinion.

Well if you want to scare them, learn the phase "Yes, I understand Spanish" and walk away. Cie habla Espanole.

I have to laugh with you. I understand Spanish and they don't know it. Usually, I just walk away shaking my head back and forth and look back to see them startled. Then they try to figure things out, what I understood, and what I am going to do. How do I know this? I can still hear them talking. LOL.

I NEVER do that. It is disrespectful.

(I guess you hang around with lower class hispanics.)
