It seems to me that if I want bigger government and higher taxes, and bigger spending, I should just vote Democrat. At least they aren't delusional about what they do.

Democrats don't give. Are you delusional also.
All politicians take away. They fundamentally don't understand that if something doesn't work, then what we need is for the people involved to develop more skill and responsibility. We don't need the government to spend money on a solution.
For instance, if an inner city student isn't getting good grades, what we need is for the inner city student to work harder and study better. We don't need the government to spend money on a program targeting inner city students as if the inner city students don't have to learn to face the same reality of work and reward as does everyone else.

I agree with Larry. Both parties seem to be fighting hard to do the same things in a slightly different way. It becomes a matter of which way you prefer to lose all your money. Republicans used to stand for the rights of the States and emphasized smaller government while the Democrats traditionally call for larger central government. Anymore, the Republicans are fighting for a much larger and more powerful central government by expanding its ability to do whatever they deem necessary for national security. I am all for national security, but not at the expense of our Constitution, which I believe is still the basis of our country's laws. I really can't answer your question as neither party seems interested in limiting the federal government. To be honest, I really don't care for either one right now. Maybe we should start a moderate party and take a middle of the road approach to these issues and not hang out at the extreme edges throwing insults at the other side.

As others have said, your assumptions are incorrect.
Contrary to rhetoric, Reagan, GHWB and GWB greatly expanded the size of government and spending during their terms.
If you don't want to think, then you should just vote the party line.
However, if you spend some time reading each candidates postion on the issues, you might actually vote intelligently for the better candidate.
You need to take voting seriously - it's not a high school popularity contest where you vote for the green, yellow or purple haired candidates. The future of your city, county, state and country are in your hands.

you answered your own question have you seen the debt this country has it was done by Bush also the goverment is a lot bigger now than under clinton and the taxes are only lower for the top 10 % of americans but I will let you in on a secret this is how it goes Republicans come in to office and lower taxes for the rich and that makes them popular and the country goes in to debt then we elect a Democrat and they raise taxes to get us out of debt and that is unpopular so we have to elect a Republican to get the taxes down again but then we go in to debt again so we have to elect a Democrat its that easy so where do you want to be 2 or 4 yrs from now in debt or out of it

because you hate america.
I guess you didn't notice the republicans really outspent the democrats with their deficit spending. You didn't notice higher taxes but you'll notice it when you pay more for everything because of higher interest rates.
I know the deal though. You're hoping for a democrat in the next election so when these problems come home you can have someone to blame.

I'm democrat, myself, but I don't think you should ask this sort of question here and take any answers seriously. People are obviously going to try and get you to vote for the party that THEY think is the right one. Think about what you believe is best for this country, and which candidate is best fit for mthe job, and follows most of your beliefs, etcetera, and THEN decide for yourself where you stand.

Higher taxes mean more programs for people - spending trickles down to programs that work - like health care, if spending like that occurs then health care won't cost so much for tax payers like US. Republicans want to reduce spending to protect the enviroment and advocate for programs that harm the environment, hurt the US people and basically fund THEIR OWN POCKETS.

Democrats aren't delusional??? alllrighty then.....anyway....you should vote for whoever you feel is the best candidate. You may support issues on both sides, most people do. Do your homework, get credible facts, and make your own decision. Your life depends on it, so don't screw it up.
