Cholesterol is the fat found in animal products. Any food containing no or small amounts of animal products will be a low cholesterol food. If you are concerned about your own cholesterol levels then it is important to avoid foods that are high in fat and not necessarily limit it to avoiding foods high in cholesterol. Choose foods that have low saturated fats and avoid trans-fats. All vegetables are cholesterol/fat-free foods. The fat comes from what you put on them, such as butter, margarine or cheese. Your body does need a small amount of fat every day to aid in natural body functions. Try stir frying vegetables in a little olive oil and garlic or experiment with different seasonings. Pasta is also a low-fat and cholesterol food. Avoid creamy sauces such as Alfredo and top with a marinara sauce instead. Eat whole wheat pasta, whole grain rice, and whole wheat bread. Increasing your fiber intake will help clean cholesterol out of your system. Skim milk and fat-free yogurt will have lower fat and cholesterol. Fruit has no cholesterol and fat. I am currently on a low-fat, high-fiber diet attempting to avoid going on medication for awhile. I have family history of high cholesterol and will eventually need medication.
Just remembered this - fish oil capsules were recommended by my doctor, so I am currently taking those in addition to a product called Cholestoff that was also recommended by my doctor.

Cherrio's are great because they have fiber which lowers your bad cholesterol level. Also, foods like olive oil raise your good cholesterol. Look at the type of cholesterol that you're consuming.
