Water does not reach the tampon because the tissue in your vagina closes around the string and prevents it. Just like when you go swimming without a tampon, water doesn't go up your vagina.

Go swimming - have fun.

I have found that water can go up and cause the tampon to become wet. , but it's not such an issue that it should cause the tampon to fail. I've always just changed immediately after swimming.

LOL...If inserted correctly, your tampon should only absorb the fluid inside your vagina. The same muscles that hold the tampon in place should prevent water from getting in.
