I hope it's a Democrat. We need a smart person now but they can keep Bush as their comedian mascot.

That depends upon who the candidates are, and what happens between now and then. If Al-quaida nuke a city, Republicans.
If the Dems do win, it will probably be the last time for a very long time, no matter how stupid and hateful we Republicans are, etc.
This is because Democrats are pro-abortion and have been killing their babies by the millions.
In the 30's, I think most people became Democrats when FDR saved this nation from despair and starvation. Thus, while we elected Republican presidents, we had Senate and House dominated by Dems.
In 1973, Roe v. Wade allowed women to kill their babies.
Since then, the pro-abortion Dems have killed a lot of babies who would grow up to also be Dems. Total loss of population is around 45 to 50 million, more lib than con.
A recent study showed that 100 liberals have around 147 kids; 100 Conservatives have 208 kids.
Finally, in the 90's the shift of legislative power hit. The continuing shift of power is occuring at 0.5 percent per year. In ten or fifteen years, the Dem states are all going to be Republican states.
Rush Limbaugh joked that maybe he had to change his opinion on abortion if it gets rid of the liberals. HE WAS JOKING.

The spoiler will win.
Actually, if it is a pro-war Democrat like Hillary then the Republicans will win again, because the Democrats continue time and again to NOT offer a valid alternative.
Bush was clearly bad news even back in 2002, yet he remains in office. The interests of pro-peace Americans are ignored at the Democrats' peril.

I think it depends on the courts. If another court rules in favor of gay marriage between now and Nov. 2008, then the Republican will win. If no more courts rule in favor of gay marriage -- indeed, if the courts consistently rule against it, then the Democrat will win.

It's impossible to say more than two years before the election. It depends on who the parties' nominees will be and what happens during these two years (Iraq, Iran, the economy, unexpected events, etc.).

I don't think sensible people would decide before they know who's running. Let's see who wins the primaries.
