If you are worried about an embarrassing incident, you can relax. Most girls discover thier first period by a small amount of blood when using the bathroom on the toilet paper. It is unlikely that there would be any amount that would be visible to anyone else if at the pool. The other writer is correct- once you have it, you can use a tampon and swim away.

If you're so worried about, then make sure you use a tampon every time you go to swim practice...and this way you'll get to relax and never have to worry about it again.
