Actually there are several similarities:
1) We have a media that's anti-American
2) Like Vietnam, neighboring countries are supplying soldiers to fight against us.
3) We aren't fighting a war -- the war is over and we are involved in a "police action".
I wouldn't be a bit amazed if after the next election, a democrat congress ends our involvement and makes the troops leave with their tails between their legs (just like in Vietnam). Our country doesn't need help looking inept. We do a pretty good job ourselves.

As a Vietnam veteran, I see a lot of comparisons. Both wars started from fear pushed by politicians. In both cases, our troops were sent over without the equipment needed to do the job. In both cases, we should have never gotten involved in the first place as neither country really posed any threat to the USA. In both cases, the President had some other agenda than the one originally stated. In both cases, they were wars we could not possible win with our military.

People think that just because both wars had an insurgency they can compare them. But they neglect to mention that the majority of good enemy forces in Vietnam were N. Vietnam Army regulars.

Every war is similar in one particular way. PEOPLE DIE. As for reasons no they are different but they are also similar in how the people have turned against the war. Those are the main comparisons.

War is good because Bush says so,dammit! Right?
Wrong.War is wrong.I know you and Walter Ridgley want to contend that war is as American as apple pie,but war is still wrong.
There are no real winners.
Further proof the reactionaries' moral compass is BROKEN.

No one could NOT change his mind unless he has no mind.
Occupying other people by force is losing policy in the past and now and has no future.

No comparison. Iraq is much much worse.
They did however both start with lies being told to the American people. But the long-term consequences will be far worse. And it will last longer too.
