Empathizes with Steve Irwin's death. My kids loved him, he always made them laugh with all his astonishing acts of bravery because even though it was dangerous my kids would laugh at the way he would jump everytime a snake, a crocodile, alligator or ant type of animal would try to bit him. I think everybody will miss as per he was one of the bravest man in the whole wide world. Isn't ironic the way he died? I've heard some heartless people say that he deserved it. I don't think so, he died doing what he loved to do and I am really sorry for his wife and the kids that he leaves behind. He was a really loved person, not only by his family but by the public who found that he was a wonderful person. R.I.P. Steve Irwin, his memory willl live among us through a lot of years to come.

I feel totally bad about what happened to him and also feel so bad for his family. His shows were very refreshing and he just seemed to totally love what he was doing 9 how many of us can actually say that?). Also, when I watched his show, it just seemed that nothing EVER bothered him and everyone, from little kids to adults, could really get into his show. I heard all that garbage about him deserving it, and that is as asinine as saying that someone who races cars and dies on the track deserves it to ( you never heard one disparaging word about Earnhardt when he had his accident). He wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, he was doing things very carefully and from what I've read, Steve didn't cause a situation where the ray felt threatened. R.I.P Steve, you will be missed...........and thanks for the memories.

I am very upset by this - many people are. He may have taken risks but stingrays are not known to be fatal. This was a million-to-one shot - right through the heart. Makes you have a respect for fate.

He seemed like a good man who loved the creatures and tried to help preserve nature. I remember seeing him crying when he could not save an animal. I was not the biggest fan ever, but I would stop and watch. I never saw any anger, hatred or negativity ever come out of him. I wonder if he knew how much he was loved, and would be missed.

Very sad, especially with his leaving a wife and 2 young children. He always seemed larger than life to me, I was so shocked when I heard the news, and really sad for his families loss.
I grew up in FL, and have seen lots and lots of rays (probably everytime I was ever at the beach). I would never think something like that would happen. Just a very very tragic accident, could have happened to anyone.

He was off tha hook.....I hear he was very compassionate to little kids and he always had me laughing. I believe he was doing what he loved to do, dangerous stuff with animals. I read he was better with land animals and less experienced under water which I'm sure was a major factor. It's so ironic, expecially when you read the statistics of how many people actually get killed by sting rays,,,,,,very very few....and he has been with some beasts and managed to be ok.....God bless him.

I so agree with you. When I found out yesterday, it did not sink in until later. I got very very sad.

I probably would have punched the person that said he deserved it (LOL).

I knew he would die doing what he did, but not by a sting ray. I thought a snake bite or croc.

He will be missed in my family, along with the rest of the world

I have empathy for his wife, as I am a wife and mother too. I can in no way empathize his death. I'm still alive!

I feel that he died a terrible way, but he died doing what he loved. I feel he deserved to die doing something he loved than to have died in a car accident. Not many people die doing something they absolutely loved to do.

I think you are using the word "empathy" wrong. Empathy is one's ability to recognize and understand the emotion of another. As the states of mind, beliefs, and desires of others are intertwined with their emotions, one with empathy for another may often be able to more effectively divine another's modes of thought and mood. Empathy is often characterized as the ability to "put oneself into another's shoes", or experiencing the outlook or emotions of another being within oneself, a sort of emotional resonance.

Unless I have nearly died from being stuck by a sting ray, I can't emphasize with him. If I had lost my husband or just understanding how it might feel to lose my husband...yes, I can then empathize with his widow.

One time he left his wife in the water with a crocodile. She was screaming to get out. No I don't empathizes with someone who puts his life, and his wife's life in danger. You reap what you so. Like it was no surprise to me he died. Living your life in such a dangerous manner is stupid so he had it coming.

He didn't deserve it. I'm sure he wasn't surprised that, in the end, that is how he met his end. He lived life to the fullest, and took lots of chances.

Very sad, though.
