I am on the patch (form of birth control) and a girl at work said that when she got pregnant she was on the patch.. If the patch is left on for a week at a time, and the hormone levels are constant, then how in the heck did she get pregnant, and am I at risk??

Yes, birth control is effective 90% - 98% of the time. So its always possible to get pregnant.

Here is the thing about the birth control patch, many people have gotten heart attacks, blood clots or have even DIED. There is a class action lawsuit that you should look into signing up for if you've used the patch because you can get these problems later in life.

My friend has a serious problem with this and I've put her as a source below.

I have been on the Patch for half a year, but because I know it is not 100% guaranteed method, we always use something else. I know people who got pregnant using the Patch, so I suggest using two methods, but you could still get pregnant. Every time you have sex, you take a risk of becoming pregnant. Good luck.

Any time you have sex, there is a chance of getting pregnant. NO method of birth control is EVER 100% effective.

One of the contraindications (advisory statements) is that women over 198 lbs should not use it because of the reduction in efficacy. Even the shot has a .3% failure rate (out of 1000 women using it for 1 year, 3 will become pregnant).

As with any birth control, it is not 100% gaurenteed to prevent pregnancy. Always use a secondary form of birth control or abstain all together. I had alot of trouble with the patch. I was allergic to the adhesive, sick all the time, alot of issues that prompted me to discontinue it as a method of birth control.

Just doesn't work on all people all of the time. Make sure your bf also uses a condom.
