As I understand it, Iraq violated the truce agreement it signed at the end of what is known as the "First Gulf War" and was in violation several United Nations resolutions. Following years of sanctions against Iraq, and the inability of the UN to enforce those resolutions, the United States went to the UN and secured an additional resolution that authorized the coalition countries to take military action in Iraq. The United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy and nine or ten other countries then proceded, with the authority of the United Nations, to bring down the regime of Sadam Hussien. The drama all unfolded in the media, but I am sure you can find the details with a little surfing on the internet.

You're only looking at half the picture. The first country to invade another country opens themselves up to being invaded themselves.
Thus the U.S. did nothing illegal when they invaded Japan and Germany is WWII, they both started it.
In this instance, Iraq invaded Kuwait first. We then invaded Iraq, but stopped our invasion based on Iraq's promise to fulfill certain obligations.
Twelve years later, Iraq had still failed to keep their promises. As such, the current invasion is still a response to their initial invasion of Kuwait.
Ergo, the U.S. did not do anything illegal when they invaded Iraq.
Stupid, yes, but that's a different question. Still, not illegal in the sense you use in your question.
Since then however we have done numerous illegal things, not least of which, torture prisoners of war.

Really? I did not know the US had a law against invading other countries? Or was there some treaty the US singed promising never to invade anyone again? Keep in mind that we are the largest producers of food in the world. If anyone places sanctions on us they don't eat.

No it was not illegal because the UN was operating illegally. Iraq was funding terrorists and Islamo-fascists, torturing and killing any one that opposed them and now the proof is out that they were seeking to build nukes. The US had ever right to invade them. Saddam was an evil son of a pig and him and his sons deserved every bit of what they got. Remember the UN was benefiting from the oil for food program and had no moral right to try to stop the US. You people are sick for supporting Saddam's old government and the corrupt UN.

Invading Iraq was illegal and wrong... it is that simple.
How did Bush get away with it?
Because the USA is the only world superpower and has the muscle. This action will eventually backfire on us. The world has been woken up to how dangerous it is to have one world superpower and they are beginning to stand up.
We, the USA, has literally become a rogue nation that is lead by a man, Bush, that thinks he can ignore the rest of the world and do whatever he wants to.

i admire the Arab concepts We(Iraq) desire this (Shatt Al Arab , bigger oil expenses ,Kuwait or notwithstanding) .They consequently enter into negotiations wherein they only state -- we are greater beneficial and greater advantageous so supply us what we call for -- or we are able to invade you. So Iraq invades Kuwait, kidnaps, tortures and rapes Kuwaiti electorate, frequently loots the area, seizes its oil fields and then threatens Saudi Arabia -- and you ask what has that to do with the West or every physique else ? Do you ever ask your self why Arabs/Islam get considered one of those undesirable press worldwide huge

It is illegal and sounds very suspiciously like high crimes and misdemeanors. According to the Constitution only Congress has the power to declare war. Support by Congress short of the declaration is just a cop out to keep their own selves politically safe.
The reason Congress has to declare war first is so there will be a debate first by the citizens that their representatives will represent.

Its called self-defense. A little thing called 9/11 happened, and Bush thought he should not let people do this again.
We were defending ourselves. Just like Isreal defending itself when Another country took some of its own people prisoner.
SELF-DEFENSE.

The USA does what it wants when it wants without any regard for anyone but its own. It's typical of their attitude. Sad but true. Our own Prime Minister (Blair) is just as bad as Bush.
