Senate Republican Leadership has failed to represent the values of mainstream Americans and has instead pushed an agenda that reflects the desires of special interests.

Record federal deficits continued in 2005 and, without real reform, will continue for years to come. Meanwhile, our nation’s most critical priorities – including emergency preparedness, economic security, access to affordable health care, quality education, and energy independence – have become an afterthought in the midst of the current Republican culture of corruption.

Republicans have run up historic budget deficits and refused to put us back on a course of budget discipline. Last year, the deficit reached $319 billion, higher than in any year before President Bush took office

Republicans have failed to support a measure to prohibit the Bush Administration from taking overtime pay away from an estimated six million workers. During the Bush Administration, wages have stagnated or declined, even as the cost of health care, child care, and other essential expenses has continued to climb. The Bush overtime regulations will mean millions in lost wages at a time when workers can least afford it

For the eighth year in a row, Republicans have failed to raise the minimum wage. Minimum wage employees working 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year, earn $10,700 a year, $5,000 below the poverty line for a family of three. The current minimum wage fails to provide enough income to enable minimum wage workers to afford adequate housing in any area of the country

Republicans have failed to provide adequate support to employers hard hit by the activation of military reservists to serve in Iraq. For the second year in a row, Congressional Republicans blocked a bill that would have rewarded businesses that continue to pay salaries to their employees serving oversees. This provision would provide a tax credit to employers continuing to pay activated National Guard and Reserve employees and provide an additional tax credit to small businesses to help them cover the cost of temporarily replacing an employee who has been activated.

Republicans have failed to pass legislation to hold down the unprecedented increases in health care premiums for American families. Employer-sponsored health insurance increased by 9.2 percent in 2005 – more than three times the growth in wages and more than twice the rate of overall inflation. Premiums for family health coverage are now $10,880, up from $6,348 in 2000. These premium hikes are straining family finances, forcing businesses to drop coverage, and driving up the number of uninsured Americans

Republicans have failed to fully fund No Child Left Behind (NCLB) education reforms. Even though school districts are facing increasingly rigorous academic standards and new requirements for highly qualified teachers, Republicans actually reduced funding for NCLB in Fiscal Year 2006. Funding for NCLB is about $13 billion below the authorized level

Republicans failed to stop Bush Administration efforts to continue weakening current environmental laws and have failed to provide critical funding for environmental protection and natural resources programs, including clean air, clean water, enforcement, land acquisition, and urban parks

Republicans have failed to provide necessary funding to clean up toxic waste sites. One in four Americans lives within four miles of a toxic waste site. Republicans have looked the other way as the Administration has reduced or eliminated toxic emissions reporting requirements and limited the public’s access to information on toxics risks

Republicans have not responded to recent increases in Medicare Part B premiums. Monthly Part B premiums have almost doubled since 2000 – from $45.50 in 2000 to $88.50 in 2006

Adolf Hitler once observed that it was easier to convince people of a "big lie" repeated often enough than it was to deceive them with a lot of small ones.

Leading Democrats have evidently taken to heart this tip from one of the world's most successful propagandists.

Anyway, you see the world the way you want too. I can not even begin to try to convince you otherwise. However you are gravely mistaken on the Christian Stance on the Terry Schaivo case. You're blame on Hurricane Katrina is also sadly misplaced. I live in the Gulf Coast region, lets put some responsibility on the head of the local and state government they should of known that the levy systems were not able to handle anything higher than a cat 3 Hurricane, you know what they say about an ounce of prevention. Oh and don't even get me started on Laura Bush, is that the worst thing you could say about her? I don't and never will agree with your liberal smears.

I agree lets take a look at this:

*Interfering with Terry Schaivo's privacy, and last wish, for political gain.Even most christians disagreed with this level of intrusion.

Funny how it was her husband who stated this and he benifted greatly upon her death both financially and personally.

*A deploarble response to people displaced by Hurricane Katrina

Like how the mayor and goveneor responed. Because local and state governmnets are to handle emergancy disasters UNTIL the federal government approves it as a FEDERAL DISASTER! Not all emergancies from nature are listed as federal disasters. Take a look at how many trailers sit unused because displaced people would rather stay in hotels. I think the people responded worse than the governement. It shows just how many think they are OWED something.

*That Laura Bush was so emphatic to she called it "Karina".Twice.

WOW! So if you had as many public speaking engagments and did two misnames or mispronociations then we could all call you heartless or "so emphatic" as you quoted? It means nothing other than she said it wrong.

*Going from being the world's largest creditor to the world's biggest debtor. We're currently $200B in hock with China.

Why is our government suppose to make money? We are not the world's largest debtor it is only if you want the figures to say that.

*Attacking a country unrelated to 9-11,and then staying with no plan after Bush ADMITTED we went in on bad intelligence.

Funny how Clinton just out of office said the one thing he would have like to do was taken "care of the Iraq situation". He had years to deal with Suddam and because of his mishandleing it simply made it harder down the line. Bush admitted bad intelligence but that wasn't the only reason we went in. You say you love your liberties but stop at the liberties of others. I am proud that the president admited a mistake. Have you ever done that?

* A "liberation"of Iraq that is causing 110+ civilian deaths A DAY.

How many did Suddom kill everyday? This is factions vying for control of the country whos culture and history have been taught mostly in blood.

With no end to this mess in sight.

No end in sight because you see the worst in everything. You point fingers but don't relize those same fingers can point back at you. When you complain offer a solution using the means you or the country has. Not simply what you want because we have 300,000,000 people voicing what they all want and most of the time it is not the same thing. America was built by those who made something out of nothing. I believe Democrats make me a better Republican. They force me to evaluate my ideas and thoughts. Am I happy at everything the Republicans have done. No. But I am sure you feel this same way about Democrats. It is all of us that make AMERICA. Trust what you can do, don't simply ***** at others in the ring.

You have just scratched the surface!

The Republicans can't even see that this administration is not even following their parties agenda. This small group of Neocons have taken over the Republican party and the normal republicans can't or refuse to see it!! The rest of us and the world see it!

Anytime this happens in a country, the civilians don't see until the aftermath.
For example:
The German citizens did not see it until after the war. With quotes like " Why did we not see what was really happening in our Government, Why did we believe them"

Same for Japan!

Now we have a group of Neocon Republicans who have control of our government and are trying to seize more power....and the sheep are marching along!

You listed what you think are Republican failures so I'll take the counter point:

*A deplorable plan for Katrina (Mayor not evacuating but telling people to go to the Super Dome)

*Ah Luara Bush is not an elected official - at least she did not try to have closed meetings to discus plans for health care (like Hillary did as an unelected official)
*Need to see your refs for this one, but imagine how poorly we'd be doing if we would have done the tax increases proposed by Dems.
*The number 2 Alqeada guy was just arrested in Iraq don't you think we should attack Alqeada WHEREVER they are?
*3000 civilians where killed in 9/11 and we are not safe today but we are safer than when we bombed a baby food factory after an attack on the world trade center.

Americans do not deserve a Democrat who "voted for the war before he voted against it". Or who's plan for Iran was to give them a reactor like we did with Korea (thank you Bill Clinton) so they could make more nukes.

I did one for the Democrats and I will do one for the Republicans.

*Gave Ted Kennedy rights to write the Education bill giving us No Child Left Behind.

*Failed to Secure Social Secruity for those of us that are 35 years and younger.

*Failed to fight a war in Iraq effectively, if they did it right our boys and girls would have been home a year ago and Iraq would be well on its way of being another Japan.

*Failed to stop Clinton from giving North Korea nuclear technology. They had control of the purse strings they could have stopped the budget to protect us from that menace.

*Failed to make sure that our budget stayed at 1.8 trillion dollars so we could have had that surplus 10 years down the road as they promised in the 90's

*Failed to fight the enviromentalist lobbyists to allow drilling of our own oil to help keep down gas prices.

*Failed to Extend the patriot act and disable the wall that Clinton and his adminstration built to keep our intelligent agencies from talking to each other.

Good enough for now I think.

For some reason, I don't feel as though democrats could have handled those situations any better. It normally takes a structured plan to solve problems over the long term. And yes, sometimes war is a solution. Not everything is solved in the short term, and your statements are merely one tiny aspect of much broader problems. Who will you blame when Bush is gone?

well all points are not debatable so i wont try but as far as calling them failures well I'll wait for a conclusion to determine weather it was a success or a failure right now most of those issues are still pending so i say good luck and god bless and as far as pointing out ones flaws do you think you could shed a little light on how you have promoted the American way of life for your fellow Americans oh that's right you would have to expose yourself to the skepticism of others like yourself who hide behind anonymity and throw stones at others but I must say thanks for the 2 and have a wonderful day

I'll return the favor there, Jimmy boy:

1. President Clinton's FAILURE in Somalia

2. President Clinton's FAILURE to address the bombing of the USS Cole.

3. President Clinton's FAILURE to address the first bombing of the World Trade Center in New York City. He in fact intially refused to admit it was a terrorist incident!

4. President Clinton's FAILURE to listen to CIA and FBI chiefs about the threat of Osama bin Laden. "A bureaucratic feud and President Clinton's indifference kept America blind and deaf as bin Laden plotted."

5. President Clinton single-handedly reduced the office of President to a laughing stock due to his appetite for overweight interns.

6. President Clinton's little White Water fiasco.

7. President Clinton's failure to reform health care. (special shout out to Hilary for her part in this)

8. By 1994, Republicans had launched an aggressive attack on Clinton that delivered Republican majorities in both houses of Congress for the first time since 1955. Way to go, Willy!

9. President Clinton's impeachment by the House of Representatives on charges of having lied under oath.

10. President Clinton's lies about never using marijuana.

11. Want a small disaster? At the opening of the Holocaust Memorial, 1993. A luncheon was served afterwards for the distinguished Jewish guests and foreign dignitaries. The main entree' was Honey baked Ham.

12. "We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans"

- President Clinton (USA TODAY, 11 March 1993, page 2A)

More to come!
