body fat. His coach set him up on this training program, but is it really safe to drop so much weight and body fat in a matter of 2-3 months? He's allready skinny as it is.
Also, he's 5'1.

its part of the sport. id drop down from 145lb to 125lb every week and i am 7% body fat. its just part of the sport yes its not healthy for ya nor is it fun but its just something you gotta do

That's a 10% reduction in overall body weight and a 70% relative reduction in body fat, in 2-3 months.

And you wonder why they say "the only smart wrestler is an ex-wrestler."

the reduction of body fat shouldn't be that much of an issue. but the problem is that muscle weighs more than fat! so he would also have to be loosing muscle mass to have a net loss in weight - not just body fat loss. this doesn't seem wise at all.

No, that sounds wrong. Maybe you should speak to your Parents about this. My Nephew is a Varsity Wrestler and around 100 lbs. and his coach has never tried to change his weight, he needs to just compete in his current weight division.

That's more than %10 percent of his body weight he wants him to lose. That's not healthly at his weight.
