It doesn't hurt. It is uncomfortable sometimes, but it does not hurt. You will undress, but have a robe or paper sheet on you. S/he will feel your breasts for lumps. S/he will press/feel your abdomen. S/he will ask you questions about your periods (for example, are they regular? When was your last period?). You will put your feet in stirrups (braces on the side of the exam table). S/he will make sure your outer genitals look normal. The internal exam will involve taking a cell sample from the cervix, done usually with something that looks like a mascara brush. It may feel weird, might hurt a tiny bit, but it's over with very quickly, and this quick procedure can end up saving your life.
Once you go once, you will see it's not so bad. If you are sexually active, you need to go.

A gynocologiest is someone to help insure that everything is in working order. They can also help with certain women problems that arise in our special areas. Sometimes (depending on the doctor and you) it can be somewhat a little painful when they go to do the physical examination. But, if you remember to relax and try to ignore what they are doing it shouldn't be painful. Alot of times a first timer is so nervours about it that they tighten up when can cause the pain. If you are sexually active you, in my opinion, should have had an exam before now. It is nothing to worry about. Just remember to relax.

Aw everything will be fine! I'm 17 and had my first appointment when I was probably about 16. I was worried just like you but it's really not that bad, I must admit though it is quite awkward but your doctor usually has her way of making you feel more comfortable. Going to the gyn isn't painful and if there is any pain involved it should be minor.
Good luck

It is not as bad as young girls think it is, nor is it disgusting. Go to a doctor that maybe your girlfriends or your mother goes to. Chat with the doctor a little while before the examination and that should help you get a little more comfortable. During the examination, just RELAX.

It may hurt some but if it does, just let the doctor know. He/she will ask questions, check by looking, smell, do a Pap Smear to check for abnormal cells or diseases, check your cervix, uterus. My doctor told me everything she was doing, which helped me cause there were no surprises. And the nurse will be in there also, for legal reasons.

Well the first time you go, the doc will ask you a lot of questions. Then you will have to get completely undressed. He/She will then examine you which doesn't hurt. They will feel your breasts for lumps and look inside your vagina. Then you get dressed and all is done.

Don't watch the hand that rocks the craidle.
It will give you the wrong idea.
You will be ok.
Ask your mom or lady friend to recommend a gyn.
Ask your best friend to go with until you can trust the doc.
