It seems like our elected officials spend a lot of time doing things other than working for you and me. Things sit undone at the end of each session, yet they have plenty of time to campaign for themselves or others, all the while getting a paycheck from Joe and Jane Taxpayer. I don't get paid if I take a day off to interview for a new job. Should they be getting a paycheck for leaving work undone while they hit the campaign trail?

They must ALWAYS be working very hard, b/c they signed 6000 bills this last session -- can you believe that, 6000? Could you read 6000 pages in a year?

In my opinion, they should not. To tell you the truth, I think that politicians should be men and women really interested in administrating their country very well, in the right meaning of the word "politician" (for the people); so, if they are so interested in doing this, they should pay for doing this (in exchange to their status and privileges that go with their position) or, at least, they should receive nothing. I´m not sure but, I believe that in some European countries (like Switzerland, Finland, etc.) this is the way it works.

Well no I don't think that they should be getting paid if they are not on the job. But that is the benifit of have a salary type job rather than work by the clock type job.
They are on the job even when they are not working for you and I.
Unfortunitly that is just the why our system work it suck but it anit going to change.

This is an excellent question. Of course, they do (they get an annual salary), but maybe they shouldn't
