I feel like if you aren't willing to join the military and get your head blown off in the war, then you don't really support it. So why aren't you in Iraq? (And no pathetic excuses either).

And before anyone starts the labeling... I'm not a liberal OR a democrat. I'm just a republican that doesn't agree with the war.

Note: "because i'm under 18" qualifies as a pathetic excuse.
I'm speaking to all those who are fully eligible for enlistment, claim they support the war, and choose not to enlist.

To Big Mack:
i DO ask why our politicians aren't over there. i think if any president is willing to go tho war, then he should have to go fight in it and risk his OWN life. thatd make em think twice.

To anyone who asks if I have served my country:
I'm not 18. But even if i WAS, i woudn't join up because i'd just end up getting deployed into some bullshit war that i don't agree with. i'm not going to die for something that i don't think is just. perhaps if we get involved in a war for a legitimate reason i will enlist.

To janice h: i HAVE thought for myself, and thats EXACTLY why i'm asking this question. and as a note about my "liberal instructors"... i live in a small town in TEXAS, where liberalism is nonexistent and people haveonly tried to persuade me to the conservative viewpoint... my thinking behind this question is entirely my own. thank you.

This is a very immature question. I am in the military and people can and do support the war without ever leaving their home town. Where shall I begin... letters to loved ones who are there, even some old fashioned encouragement for those in the military can go a long way. By the way, just because someone is in the military doesn't mean they WANT to go to Iraq (Iraq isn't the only place we go to fight, I am sure you were not aware of this, noting the quality of your question) and get your "head blown off". You are really somethin'.
So you're not even 18 yet, just a baby still. You need to educate yourself a little bit more. I have firsthand experience with the locals in the Middle East and they want the US and Coalition forces there. They THANK us for helping, we ARE making life better for them.
If you don't support the war, why don't you write/email someone in Saudi or Iraq or Kirghistan or Pakistan or wherever you like and ask them yourself what they think of the war. Since you are not as directly affected by it as a person living in all of it, maybe you should ask them before you make up your mind.

So young, so idealistic, and so sure you are right. I would love to join the military but they will not let 60 year old women in. I have 2 nephews and a niece who have both either served or are currently serving in our armed forces and I asked them if they supported the war effort or if they thought we were wrong to go there. All 3 of them said the President made the right decision. I couldn't go but I knew which questions I needed answers to and they told me that this war was worth the effort. Now instead of just copying your liberal instructors leanings why don't you try thinking for yourself and get information from people who have actually done what you are condemning.

Some people who support the war are underage or have certain disabilities that will bar them from military service. Others may have already done their time in the military and are too old to "re-up". As for me, I do support the war and I do not serve in the military, but my husband does--and he has been to Iraq once and will be heading back next year. There are other ways to show your support for the war and the troops besides joing the military.

You mock the soldiers that die everyday to save ur sorry butt from another terrorist attack....
I'm not over there because I'm not 18... and I don't have the guts and dedication that they do...
If you pull them out now... their sacrifices will be in vain... and terrorism will re root itself and the government will colapse...
how come they never show the good green zone were people are living happy free lives? All they show is the bad stuff...
I guess that's what happens when the media is influenced by the left...
If we stop defending Americans in the war against terror, it will hit our streets... war is never popular... but the world will be a better place without the terrorist...
Can you call yourself an American? Why don't you spend one day in their boots....
My Dad was a soldier!

Some People Support The Wars Because They Think Its Just Them That Does Wrong. Americans, Canadians, Europe Peoples, We All Do Something Wrong! But Its Us As Individuals That Decide Whats BEst For Us. Some Of Us Support Beating The Crap Out Of Other People's Places For One Persons Actions. Seriously. Others Say We Shouldn't Be In War And Iraq Shouldn't Be Fighting With Innocent People Dying. Well i Disagree With Both. Yes There Should Be NO War!!!
Stop The War, Agree!

I completed my military service 9 years ago. Frankly I don't know if I support the war in Iraq, but your question is a bit off base. Not everyone has the ability to be in the military. Some are just not called to the military vocation, though they are still good citizens.

I already served in the military and now I'm beyond the age to do so. Would you even consider serving your country if there was no war? Or have you already? If so thank you for your service, if not what is your excuse?

That's a pretty simple answer. They support them from home, would you ask yourself why all of our politicians aren't there? The soldiers in Iraq are often there because they wanted to be a soldier. It's not always because they want to kill muslims. They want to serve their country whereas many of the people back home would rather keep it going. You can't have an entire polulace of soldiers. These people at home have JOBS! Yes, that's right JOBS! That's they they aren't there dumby.

Also too old. But I do work in my community to support our troops. I doubt our fighting men would feel real safe having a 40ish mother of four covering their backs.
