What a bizarre question.
The answer, of course, is that most "liberals" are far better informed about international events than most insular "conservatives", and know that pefectly well. I presume you may have just discovered these facts.
Oh, and Beslan wasn't a bombing. And you forgot Lagos, Nigeria. Try to keep up with the rest of the world.

Don't forget China.
Western China has the most terrorist attacks.
At first China let the Muslims Kill the Buddhists. They looked at it like getting rid of a problem. Now Islam is encroaching on central China.
Oh that peskey Religion of Peace it's everywhere.

Terrorism is defined as "The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons." Or shortened, the killing of innocent people for a political purpose.
Perhaps terrorism in the sense of al Qaeda is what seems most relevant for today. But terrorism, by this logical definition, is committed by many people and governments around the world, and has occurred throughout the history of civilization. It is not a term to throw around lightly or use without great consideration. Unquestionably al Qaeda is a terrorist organization. Saddam's regime is an example of state terrorism. But to analyze terrorism more closely, were not the conquistadors terrorists? Don't both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict commit terrorism?
What about the Crusades? The genocide in Sudan? The Uni-bomber? The KKK, IRA? Slave traders?
And more disturbingly, we should consider the United States, which has committed atrocities such as . . .
- The slaughter of Native Americans
- The imperialist suppression of Filipino independence, when upwards of 500,000 innocent civilians were slaughtered in war and concentration camps
- By invading Vietnam, Laos, or Cambodia
- By supporting Romeo Lucas García's accession to power in Guatemala, which resulted in the dictatorial slaughter of upwards of 200,000 people.
Terrorism is not an act coming from only specific factions of extremists - it is commited by people and governments all over the globe. Asking partisan, knee-jerk questions don't lend anything to the consideration of a difficult, often painful subject so pertinant to today's world.
Manbearpig - Certianly extremist organizations CLAIMING to practice Islam have attacked countries all over the world - no one is dening this - liberal, conservative, or free thinking. But shouldn't we, as American citizens, be more concerned with their attacks against our nation than other nations?

evaluating apples to grapefruits to pomegranetes. first of all, no liberal has ever made the declare which you state. you could not carry out sensible discourse via posing a controversy, attributing t on your opponent and then refuting it. Secondly, there's no group of "the terrorists." The Basque ETA in Spain (disarmed now), the IRA in eire (disarmed), action Directe in France and Al Qaeda have not got something TO DO WITH one yet another. GET IT by way of YOUR HEAD: Terrorism is a tactic, not an enemy you could kill. ETA did not care approximately Iraq, the IRA did not care approximately Israel, Tim McVeigh did not care approximately Saudi Arabia. those are small people who use mass homicide to scare the masses. as quickly as we cower from them, the approach is working.

It's really funny to see all the misrepresented thoughts of liberals posted here.
Apparently conservatives know what liberals think better than liberals do.
