Who do you mean by WE ? In each country, the ultimate power is with the people. If the people accept those who govern them, and those in charge is bleeding the country dry, well that's their decision.
The same question is often asked about Mexico. What everyone would like to know is why some countries build factories and become well off, while the neighboring country remains poor.
So why does Haiti remain poor while surrounded by other islands that are quite well off ? Remember the old saying " if you need a hand, you can find one at the end of your arm ".

Our military is the only way we can help Haiti. The Haiti people are in such trouble and they do need our help. Pull out troops from our pointless war and provide help to those that need it! Stupid *** Bush!

Let's hitch a line onto Haiti and tow it up to New Orleans, than we can give them all handouts.
