Most people who work on ambulances are not ambulance drivers. Paramedic or EMT is the propper title. Paramedics have over a year of medical training, and EMTs have about a month. Both are trained medical professionals who do more than just drive an ambulance.

Almost all are EMT's and it is becoming necessary to be a paramedic as you can't get a job in any major city if you are not!!!

then in many cities like mine, they are fireman as well, so they need to be trained firefighters!!

That's an Associates Degree for a Paramedic, the same as many ADN registered Nurses!!!

They have to be trained just like any other paramedic, they aren't just drivers!
