Are you going to post-secondary school. Ever wonder why tuition rates go up at a faster clip than almost any other cost? One reason is because young people don't care as much about politics as older people. Hence, older people dominate you in the political realm.

It's a waste of time. You would be better off sleeping or doing some other productive thing. Try floating on a raft. That has a better chance of affecting government than politics. Remember Huckleberry Fin has done more for America then President Bush.

First, because an 18 year old can vote. Second, issues that regularly come up during elections will affect you for the rest of your life. It's vital that you understand the issues and form an opinion.

Because it affects your life in many ways...it effects the economy and your prospects of making a good living for yourself, it could effect you if they bring back the draft and force you go out and get killed for your country, it could effect you if your emails & phone calls are tapped for the greater good of gathering intellegence in the "war on terror", it could effect you if you want to buy a house some day and interest rates keep rising and gas prices keep rising, and all the while politicians are spending millions of dollars a day on a war predicated on finding weapons of mass destruction that did not exist.... These things may have a direct impact on your life and your knowledge of these things will inform you about what kind of leaders you want to put in these positions when it comes time for you to vote.

Well, the obvious draw is that 18 is legal voting age. I remember being that age and being really interested in how everything worked outside in the big real world.

You can either choose to oppose the Dumbya Coup, or, among other rotten things that could happen, have without your choosing some guy calling you "private", and worse, at 5 am in some nowhere where they are shooting at you. It might not be cold there, but you might feel the draft.

Because the old fuddy duddies are starting to loose the plot - and young people are suffering... we need some young people to stop fannying around and be able to make some decisions that will help the younger generation..

Hi Craig. Sorry, I don't have a very intelligent answer to your question. I guess its because politics involves all of us, but what I wanted to share most was this strange word with you. I was surfing around when I saw your question. I got the strangest feeling to stop and tell you this. I don't know why and I am not sure why you need to hear it, but here goes: "you are a wise man who worries much but loves more. Trust in yourself and take the risk you imagine." There. I have delivered my message. Hope it helps! Bye...
