for those people who think marriage should be between one man and one woman then why do you let the government step in and divorce. Is it not until death do you part...

I think that Gay Marriage is wrong, but I don't think that it should be government controlled. We should not be so rapped up in people's personal decisions about themselves that we neglect more important decisions and situations that definitely need attention, the way that this Administration has done. Unless of course people are making decisions to do something illegal. But this Administration seems to want to hold everyone else responsible and accountable for their actions, but won't keep it's own members in check for their wrong doings, or we might be at least investigating to determine whether or not to impeach our President and half of his criminal Cabinet!

It's wrong. Marriage by definition is between a man and a woman. By all means have civil partnerships, even call it "gay marriage" and give it a similar status legally to marriage but it will never be "Marriage" so why kid yourselves. Whilst I have nothing against gay couples (of either sex) and accept in many cases the "born gay argument" as soon as they come out and decide that's what they want to be they are making a conscious decision that will have a personal social impact. One such difference it makes is they can never be married. That is the reality if they want to call themselves married fine; but I know they are not, they know they are not, in fact, everyone knows they are not.

Gays and lesbians should be allowed to marry. We're treating them the same way African-Americans were treated in the 1950's and 60's. They are human beings who deserve the same rights as anyone else. Period.

I support civil unions and not marriage.
Marriage is an institution of God between a man and a woman, the Bible says so. If it's by God, then we should abide by it.
If you wanna get together with another dude and do all that of the goods thingy and all that, get a civil union and that's it, marriage is sacred.

It is not a right or wrong issue but a social issue that needs to be decided by a majority of people in this country, not by the courts and not by a constitutional amendment.

Of course its right. It should not be outlawed. Saying it is against the Bible, or against God is not a valid argument in the United States. For those of you who say ridiculous things like I want to marry my cat or dog you should be ashamed of yourselves to equate two people who love each other with an animal. It used to be illegal for whites and blacks to marry.Should we also reinstate this law? Should we just make our laws based on religion?

Just for the record, I'm not gay.

However, I feel as though gays should be afforded the same rights and privileges that heterosexual couples have.

Peace.
