Because most of the people who would be interested in discussing the definition of words are perfectly capable of looking up the words. And they see your definitions as a valid (if not the only valid) answer.
The problem is, where do you go from there. Too many people, including many many adults, just aren't interested in ration philosophical discussion. They only want to rant and bash and call people names, because in their twisted little dain-bramaged minds, that is how you score political points.
Rational discussion requires tolerance and an openness to new ideas. And sadly those qualities have been largely killed off in our species by the contagious mental disease that is hatred and bigotry.
Or to put it another way, those who are open to the concept agree with you already. Those who are not never will, because they have formed their own definition of liberal that has nothing to do with reality or politics, and refuse to even reconsider their belief.

I think your anecdotal observations may be based on a simple cycle. My son, 21, is very conservative, he likes tradition, honor, truth, does not like drinking, partying and other hedonistic behaviors that are more akin to liberal behavior. He does not go to church but believes in a supreme being, follows to the best of his ability the ten commandments and tries to live a good life.
He also thinks that the current liberal agenda in politics is bad for America. Interestingly, all of his friends seem to follow along those same lines.
So perhaps what you observe and disinterest is just an awareness of the truth.

Other philosophies(right wingers) seem to do a better job of interpreting what a liberal is for the public. We tend to take ourselves to seriosly, and get angry when someone disagrees.

The issue is that this is not a disscussion site. It is a question and answe site. This is not a Bullitien Board or a Blog. It is for asking questions and answering them.

Sorry but I have found out that questions here must be "spiced"with inflammatory rhetoric to illicit responses.
Its odd I know but thats the way they like it.
