You may say we have a right reason to be in Iraq and that it is protecting our freedom. Fine. But it doesn't change the fact that Bush has made the war in Iraq the most important thing of his presidency. He has completely neglected us. Does it not matter to him that this country is billions of dollars in debt because he's spent it all on the war? What has he done for Hurricane Katrina victims, stem cell research, ridiculously high gas prices and poverty? Are these not more important than sending our 18 year olds to Iraq to die?

AMEN!!!! You have said my feelings exactly. His whole Presidency since he invaded Iraq has been trying to convince people (using fear) that we need to stay there. Our country has suffered tremendously because of his war and think what we might've been able to do with all those billions we're spending...?? Not to mention the lives lost. And to have his ONLY Presidential veto against stem cell research??? Pushing a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage??? Where are his priorities???

Somehow people forget the very recent past very quickly. Stem cells, Katrina, and gas prices are all of zero importance if our country is open to all kinds of destruction.
For the last, so many years, embassies all over the world have been bombed, with hundreds of Americans and others murdered. The ship Cole was attacked by Muslims. Then the Twin Towers were bombed by Muslims, murdering thousands and causing billions of dollars of damage.
The president had no choice but to finally show the ones responsible that it can't just keep going on. The training grounds and finance were gifts from Saddam, so Iraq was attacked.
In the mean time, there have been no other terrorist attacks on American soil. Without taking the war to them, it would only be a guess as to what might have been done to us.
The question always comes up - - - If you had to do something after the Towers attack, what would you, as president do ?
And finally, your final statement is way off. The president never sends 18 year olds , or any others, to Iraq to die. Soldiers are never sent anywhere to die. They're sent to fight. Unfortunately, some do die. but the percentage is very very small.
I was in the front line infantry all the way across Europe, but here I am banging away at this keyboard.

The war on Terror and the war in iraq have been going on for a lot of years. The recruitments are still up in the ALL volunteer military force. Contrary to what some think, the military is not just there to give out bonuses and college degrees. It is a job and an important job. So I take offense at your stance.
I think since we have supported the Katrina victims for a year that we've done our part. No other disaster has seen this type of support? So you are mistaken in your thinking.
Stem Cell Reseach IS being funded by the government. The only research we are not funding is Embryonic stemcell research. There is no evidence to suggest that this will give them any further results. Its not outlawed, the research companies can use this method, the government just won't pay for it. So you are wrong on that account too.
Gas prices are set on the world market. This President has no bearing one way or the other on this. You need to take an economics course.
I think if you took the time to actually do a little homework instead of buying into a bunch of lies, you will be a much happier person.

You are ignorant by every sense of the word.

We are on the brink of a new world war and having Iraq as an ally and free is going to be a big help.

How can you not see that wars cost money and he would not go there unless it was in our best interest. I don't know about you but I sleep better at night knowing that Bush is doing something to end dictatorship in the middle east.

Four times as much money has gone to Katrina relief than any other natural disaster. If you think he is not doing anything try looking a little harder.

Bush rightly blocked the tax payers money from going to stem cell research. There are other forms of taking cells that do not involve a constant supply of aborted fetuses, and has actually been proven to work. Stem cell research has not had one successful experiment yet.

Can you tell me how rising gas prices is his fault? Last time I checked Bush was trying to drill in Alaska, and was actively pursuing alternate means of fuel like ethanol. What has liberals done other than blame people for killing the planet, Which hasn't even been proven either.

And finally we have an elite voluntary military that supports president Bush by over 70%. And the average age is older than ever. More Americans die over there from operator error than by combat.

So in answering your question Bush cares about this country more than what ignorant people like you think about him.

It amazes me to see the posts down there that still defend Bush and his policies...MsLeo....Do your homework down there has made every excuse in the world for him.....if he isn't responsible for our lack of government response why do we need a president. The lack of response to Katrina was devastating and yes he sat by. If a president wants to get something done, believe me he can get it done if it is important to him. Just look at Iraq. All of the opposition to it and a lot of good advisers telling the administration there was no evidence, not to make the mistake of going into Iraq, and to pre-plan...what did he do? He arrogantly ignored all the experts and went with his gut. It's just amazing how some continue to rationalize his failures.

Actually, I think that the president doesn`t handle the business in a leadership role as he should. President Bush is only carring on what his father didn`t finish! Bush is just a "puppet" on a string! His agenda was already decided when he took presidency. He is just getting even because of the way the mideast treated his father! Bush clearly in every interview has difficulty answering questions because he is not prepared, not briefed on just what to say to the press and the general public! The president is just not in touch with the common people of the U.S. He can not imagine how is to be poor! It is not that he just dosen`t care, he just hasn`t experienced poverty not discrimination!

He cares about all Americans - after all that's part of his Christianity. He's just trying to protect us from all those al Qaeda members in Iraq who were responsible for 9/11. After all, they all came from Iraq and were loyal to Saddam Hussein. And, he wants to protect us from all those weapons of mass destruction Saddam had in Iraq as well. Never mind those people along the Gulf Coast, or people suffering from debilitating illnesses, its the destruction of non-existent terrorists in that terrorism hell-hole, Iraq, that's important. When all is said and done, he'll go down in history as the closest thing this country has ever had to a totally incompetent fool for president.

Katrina was the fault of local officials Blanco and Nagin. Stem cell research is just not funded by the government, which would put us further in debt. He has no control over the free market of petroleum. I guess you want to be rulered over by the root of the trouble, Iran. As for poverty, that would also cost money, again putting us further in debt. You can't have it both ways.

Watch the HBO special on Katrina - and see your answer.
And then pray to God that you never need any services from your government under the control of the Bush presidency - because you will not see that help arrive.
