People think the media is liberal because they look at all the different sides of a story, as opposed to Fix News, which looks at only one. Liberal Media Bias is a common myth, an urban legend. If you disagree, check out Alterman's book on the topic.

The premise that the media is biased actually started with the hillary claim of a "vast right wing conspiracy" based on the success of certain talk radio programs. The idea was to label this success as a conspiracy so they could suspend the first amendment, but it failed.

This bantering back and forth continued for a time and people who have no strong political bias either way started researching to the best of scientific study to determine if there was indeed bias.

I have reviewed many of these so called studies and indeed some were definitely biased. I found one that was not at all biased in how it was set up. The study showed that there is a bias. You can read it if you want but you will not agree so maybe you should not waste your time, unless of course you have an open mind to the truth.

Because it is (relatively). Everything is relative. The mean education level in the United States is perhaps 13 years, but the average level of education among professional journalists is about 17 years. Thus their thinking about political and social issues is not the same as the general public. Education tends to make people more liberal (perhaps 80 percent of college faculty consider themselves non-conservative, and colleges and universities are considered "breeding grounds" for liberal ideas), so it is no surprise that sooner or later the perceptive high school grad and taxi driver would start calling the media the "liberal media."

The media is liberal because they do not just report facts. They take certain facts and report them and leave other facts out and that represents a slant. They wish to push their own ideas and bias and slant the American populations thoughts on issues. This is not a lie, it's the truth. The agenda is mostly of a liberal nature, but their are a gambit of other slants. If you don't think the media has an agenda, try being interviewed once and see how much they edit out, and take things out of context and then ask your question again.

Attack dog Republicans have portrayed liberals as evil and many people have bought this. Now the campaign is against the non right wing media because they have been uncovering domestic and international problems caused by our Republican administration. Saying they are "liberal" makes them evil as well as incorrect and biased. It's the age old and effective technique of smearing the messenger to discredit the message.

By the way, civilian deaths are up 50% in Iraq according to a recently released Pentagon study. Fox News is where these sorts of facts are minimized or omitted or distorted. For example, now they are saying this is due to an increase in foreign fighters from Syria and Iran. The report itself does not list this as a major factor in the increase in deaths (ut to 125/day now.)

It is not a lie, it is true. In my firm we poll media outlets on a regular basis. More than 70% reaspond they are Dems. What's wrong with the fact that we control the media? Through the use of television we can get our message out to millions of people. If the TV and papers weren't liberal how would we get our message out? How would we control voters that are too ignorant to make their minds up for themselves? Not to say they are stupid, just an uneducated inner city welfare mother isn't going to get the truth by doing research, we have to feed it to her in managable, easy to understand sound bytes and snippets.

There is freedom of the press. Thus, the media can say anything and it is being liberal.

LOL. Why dont you watch news from the middle east and compare it with CBS (which people accuse of being liberal) then tell me whats liberal.

Aljazeera makes CBS look like the NAZI propaganda channel.

Because CNN and CBS disguise their "News" hosts as unbiased, when in fact they are not.

KEMCHAN - Have you ever seen FoxNews? They have both sides of the stories for EVERYTHING! I don't think I've ever turned on Fox and saw less then 2 or 3 people talking.
