I have no personal experience with this, but you may want to checkout these two website:
http://www.surfnetkids.com/penpals.htm
http://www.linguistic-funland.com/teslpnpl.html
You will need to check the details and make your own judgement. From what I read, you want a site that keeps email addresses and such private. Of course, you need to make your child aware to not give out personal info as well.

I keep in concepts even getting penpals from the U.S. for all my classmates in the 80s... What a superb thanks to open one's concepts to something else of the international! immediately, no one writes letters anymore, fairly not the more youthful technology. no matter if it changed into exciting to receive a letter in the mail - a letter that had traveled aroundt the international! - the internet has made verbal replace so a lot more beneficial accessible and valuable. because of multitude of opportunities on-line, i ought to signify you first slender down what your daughter is searching for. you ought to probably hit upon a penpal in any u . s ., in pretty a lot any language. discover out what area of the international piques her curiousity, and what form of pastimes the different penpal must have. ought to sound insignificant, yet in case you want the written relationship to very last, it truly is paramount. except for that, i'm sorry that i can't provide a particular website.

I don't know any penpal sites, but I was working in an Indigenous school in Australia, and know the kids there love writing to people overseas. If you are interested feel free to email me, and I am quite happy to try and hook her up with a student at the school, I am going out there next week so it really is no problem for me! I have already set up one class penpal thingy! :)

The government has a special 'Kids Site' and so does the educational school board. I think its called ' Safe Sites for kids.' Check it out and also if you type 'Kids Sites' in your browser bar you get a whole list of sites.
