There are a lot of good ones out there. The best one I've found was King Fortis the Brave by LaMontagne and Snyder. It's about a pair of twins that are pulled into a magical land where they find themselves caught in the middle of a battle for control of the realm. The boy twin, Rodney, is mistaken for King Fortis, a King Arthur-like figure that is to someday return in the time of the land's greatest need. It's really a great book full of humor and adventure. I recommend it to my students all the time and have had students that really hate to read come back and tell me how much they love it.

The best book(s) I ever read was probably The Left Behind Series. A few of the books have been made into movies but they cannot touch the books. It has been my experience that if a book is going to be made into a movie I try to watch the movie first because if I don't then I'm terribly disappointed in it from the start. I intentionally waited until all three installments of the Lord of the Rings was out before I read the books....I loved the books but the movies were wonderful too even though they left out so much....but can you imagine putting all of the information that was in the books into the movies....you would have had 6 hour installments instead of 3 and a half hour installments!

I'm not sure I have one "absolute" best book. Two books I've enjoyed were "What Would Jesus Do" and "In His Steps" written by authors that were related. As far as I know they weren't made into a movie.

I've read some Tom Clancy books that became movies but I may've seen the movies first. I'd say that the movies are better though Clancy can write well; he tends to write superficially about relationships though.

I've read books of films such as Spiderman etc. and sometimes the book is more interesting, sometimes it isn't.

Making a book into a movie can be difficult, especially when one considers Hollywood's tendency to dumb a story down or to be overly formulaic. I think a phrase that applies to Hollywood is: "Too many cooks spoil the broth (soup)."

Well my favorite book is actually a series of books. The series is called "The Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan. The first book in the series is called "The Eye of the World". There are so far 11 books in the series and it is extremely detailed and intricate. Very good book if you like fantasy.
No it has not been made into a movie. I will not be heartbroken if it never becomes a movie, because I cannot see them taking such a long and detailed book series and making it into a movie all the while doing the book justice.

My favorite book (or series of books) is Dune. It was made into a theatrical movie which was very good. There also was a mini series based on the book which I think was even better. But the books are without a doubt better.

Best book, Bridges of Madison County, also made into a movie. Of course, I would love to have seen Harrison Ford play the part that Clint Eastwood put himself in. But still, both were and still are, EXCELLENT!!! I had the opportunity to visit Iowa and go to the places in the movie. It was quite exciting to sit in the very kitchen of the house, the movie took place in.

I loved the Count of Monte Cristo book and the Quo Vadis book. Neither movies satisfied the books greatness. I think many movies take out a lot of greatness of their book counterparts.

Best ever book...Passage by Connie Willis. Great novel about near death experiences. Don't think that it has been made in to a movie though.
Books are nearly always better.

My favorite book is Agatha Christie's And then there were none. It has been the bases for many movies and none have come close to the greatness of the book.
