Several studies have shown that liberals tend to be more educated than republicans. Just take a look at the blue states in the New England area then take a look at the red states in the south.
Now when it comes to democrats versus republican they are about the same but you said 'liberal'.
It has been my experience here in the south that most of the poor families that have blue collar jobs... the ignorant rednecks... are republicans.

Generally they are not always liberals. Sometimes they are brainwashed so bad, such as in the south, that they are Republicans.
Poor people are those that need help and realize that Republicans generally are against them. Republicans want to keep them poor while Democrats want to help them make a better life for themselves and their children.

I´ve found so called liberals are often better educated than others and this often rules out the poor.

Because most poor people us government assistance, like food stamp, cash assistance, WIC, etc. The libs keep them thinking that reps will take that all away and it will not be available to them. Well, it is a load of crap. It will always be available to those in need regardless of the party you are affiliated with.

Your premise is incorrect. In the last presidential election, the vote was polarized based mostly on people's view of the Iraq war, and their stance on emotional issues such as gay marriage and abortion. These were the bastion of the red states- with lower economic standing than the blue states. So- it was somewhat reversed.

Because liberals believe that the government should take care of people.
Poor people, would like to blame their circumstances on anything but themselves, and are perfectly willing to ask for, and accept government handouts.
The liberal mindset of the government takiing care of all of your needs fits in with this perfectly.
