Paris, Rome, London, and Madrid Dissapear in nuclear fire. The world is shocked in terror at the fear that its only the beggining. But no one comes forward claiming the attacks. There are no leads as to how or why it happened.
However a space shuttle mission discoveres something very distrubing. A sattelite (kind of like Space Cowboys) is full of nuclear weapons built by the Soviet Union and hidden in the Cold War. And its malfunctioning. Now there are 6 more missiles on it and anything done wrong could launch them. No one knows their targets.

But, (and this was something i came up with later) is it a malfunction? or the work of a mad man.

i cant imagine it being very long. The mad man is in fact a russian missile tech. and they have to get to him (once we learn the truth) before he can nuke 6 more major cities.

It is the work of a madman who has figured out a way to crack the code to make it look like a malfunction.

How many more cities must be destroyed until the code is broken?

There's a great idea there, but NOT a short story. Go for the works!

Why not attempt to comprise each and each of the thoughts in those solutions!? so that you've were given zombie-hunters, vampires, a guy looking an mind's eye lower than a rock, laser-eye surgical operation and a creepy postman. i am going to throw in a porcupine. Whoah - i ought to study it!!

wayyyy too predictable. While it may be an original idea (and not a bad one) it ends up falling into the usual traps. Will they or won't they catch him in time before it's too late? That general idea has been done to death. There's nothign surprising in that. If you write it, try to take the story somewhere nobody expects.

That's a very Hollywood-like-movie. Yous should write a feature length screenplay.

Cool! It sounds like it could be really intense. Definitly enough material for a novel if you have the stamina. I could almost see it being a movie. Good luck.

Sounds fascinating. I wonder why you chose to make it a short story. I think it has novel potential.
