I would look at the genders, make sure they are who i THINK they are (dont want to approach a female who looks like a man).
I would then take a look at their eyes (see if they are giving out nervous glances around the room- sows insecurity), and how well they are conversating with others or are they hanging out in the back by themselves. I would look at the shoes- to see if they are truly clean or have they had them for a while (some people try to go too far out of their leagues to impress), see if they smile alot (friendly).
I would also check out their choice of drink and how often they have it- to see if they are casual or not.
Thats a long list, but those are some things i look for. Race, height, weight- those things may be important, but in the end it all boils down to what kind of person you are inside that will land you a good person!

You have to "feel people out" pretty much (and I don't mean that in a sexual sense) -- but walk around - listen to them talk - see if they are friendly with everyone or just a select few. If you see a girl and she's ONLY talking to the guys - -then she's on a mission. You can just tell if you pay attention.

JoBu also would look at the non-verbal signs that each one is giving off. If I enter the room I try to notice the way they look at me, or if I don't get anything from that I wait a little bit to see if I pick up anything during the course fo the night.

I would look for something that lets me know the kind of person they are, beyond the conversation.
A watch, a wrist band, a pair of shoes.

The person who turns and looks at you with a smile, as you approach the group....you dont want to approach the unfriendly one.

Check out how they are interacting with people. I don't want anyone who is going to be shy and not sociable. Also see how their conversations are.. if they are intelligent or not.

You look at what they are drinking. You can tell a great deal from that. I look for the beer drinking women
